Nightjars in general are cool but the great eared nightjar by far takes the cake .Native to Southeast Asia it’s the largest in the family being the size of a small hawk, with the majestic ear tufts of an owl to boot

Many people know about the river dolphins of the Amazon, but in the Mekong river of Southeast Asia there is another that is just as amazing!.The Irrawaddy river dolphin known as the smiling dolphin due to its rounded face, Is critically endangered with only 92 individuals left.

Argentavis magnificens chases down an almost meter long macroeuphractes . With large robust legs and a skull adapted for gripping, it’s possible teratorns like argentavis were terrestrial pursuit predators, chasing down its prey on foot and swallowing it whole.

The largest owl in the world is one you’ve probably never heard of . The Blakiston's fish owl is an incredibly elusive and endangered resident of Eastern Asia. They can weigh up to 3.6 kg and and can achieve wings spans of almost seven feet!!!

I’ve seen many variations of theropod integument from bare heads to beaks but very rarely feathers all the way down the face. Seeing as they didn’t have beaks like birds I see no reason why this couldn’t be a possibility, so here’s a Tsaagan portrait depicting that. #dinosaurs

Cool bird info post! .The white eared night heron might be one of the rarest herons with only 60 some observations .From eastern China it has some of the craziest eye to head proportions I have ever seen.Truly an alien of a bird

This is your friendly reminder that there is an animal out there called a numbat . Numbats are an endangered (and incredibly cute) marsupial from Australia that fill a niche similar to ant eaters .They are one of the closest living relatives to the now extinct thylacine!

"An Ocean Between the Waves" .A pair of kelenken patrol the beach as a great storm approaches blending the sky into the waves as the sun sets. This is my first full painting I've done on procreate!.Although I'm itching to get back on PS, it was fun discovering a new process here

I find it really interesting how paleoartists art of living animals compares to their extinct ones.Stylizations that aren’t based on anatomy come out and it gives a clearer picture of how that artist is interpreting that fossil.
