BSSD middle school student leaders took part in the first @i_am_noticed summit. ☀ Students from @BHMSEagles, @DwmsGators, @MRMSHUSKIES, and @PaulKinderMS worked in individual and group breakout sessions to develop better communication and connections. The program focuses on positivity and making students, family, and staff members feel more connected to their school community. #WeAreBSSD

BSSD held its first Sphero Challenge Competition! 🤖 Each elementary school competed in the K-2 Indi Teams &/or 3-5 Bolt Team categories, while the middles schools included the 6-8 Bolt Teams and 6-8 RVR+ Teams leagues. .@ScienceCityKC's newest exhibit, #LightLab, is under construction! A team from @DwmsGators won the 2024 Burns & McDonnell Battle of the Brains grand prize and their project is scheduled to open in May. Students and staff took a hard hat tour of the exhibit space with @BurnsMacSTEM staff. Light Lab will be the largest Battle of the Brains exhibit yet! Learn more at: #WeAreBSSD

Due to ice-covered bridges, overpasses, and highways, an AMI day will be used, and learning will continue from home on 2/5/25. Prime Time will be open. AMI days do not need to be made up at the end of the school year. Please be safe and enjoy your day at home.

Thank you to all the volunteers who raised funds and participated in the Kansas City Polar Plunge! 🧊 Teams and individuals gathered sponsorships and then walked, ran, or dove into the frigid waters of Longview Lake to help raise funds for @SOMissouri. In all, the BSSD teams raised $16,455 for @SpecialOlympics, with @BHMSEagles leading the way with $8,120 and taking third overall. @WildcatsBSHS finished ninth with $4,315, @MRMSHUSKIES raised $3,345 and @bssjaguars raised $675. #WeAreBSSD @sokansas

.@WildcatsBSHS Kelly Lee has been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).🏅 The PAEMST is the highest recognition that a kindergarten through 12th grade science, technology, engineering, or mathematics teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. Up to 110 teachers are recognized each year. Presidential Awardees receive a certificate signed by the President of the United States, a trip to Washington D.C. to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities, and a $10,000 award from the @NSF. Lee was named a finalist in the 2022-2023 school year and was notified of the award recently. She will visit D.C. later this school year. Lee has spent the last 25 years at BSHS and currently teaches 11th and 12th grade dual-credit courses including Statistics, Calculus, College Algebra and Mathematical Reasoning.
