BOYS TENNIS: Kokomo coach Shawn Flanary announces he is stepping down after a terrific 19-year run with Kats in order to spend more time with family. He'll remain involved in tennis in various part-time capacities.
GIRLS BB: Northwestern point guard Madison Layden just grabbed her 500th career rebound. She already has topped 2,300 points, 700 assists and 500 steals in her career.

GIRLS BB: Madison Layden has passed former Tri-Central standout (and current Logan coach) Meranda Burnett for No. 2 in state history in career assists. Layden has 704.
GIRLS BB: Mishawaka Marian coach Steve Scott on Northwestern after No. 1-ranked Tigers beat his team 69-35 in regional semifinal: “If anybody comes within 20 points of them the rest of the way, I’ll be shocked."
Kendall Bostic is our co-Athlete of the Week after a big showing in the Bluegrass State with Northwestern's girls basketball team. She helped the Class 3A No. 1 Tigers go 2-0 and she reached the 1,000-point milestone.
Western needs a new athletic director. Avon has hired Josh Larsh as its new AD. He was Panthers’ AD for 8 years. That’s a big loss for Western. Congrats and best wishes to Josh. We will have a story posted soon.

Gary West coach Rodney Fisher had high praise for Northwestern. "That's probably the state championship team. I don't see anybody beating them. They could go 4A and probably still win the state."

FINAL: Northwestern 61, Benton Central 39. Tigers repeat as Class 3A state champions! Bostic leads champions with 25 points, 15 rebounds, 7 steals and 6 blocked shots.
GIRLS BB: Northwestern sophomore McKenna Layden makes the IBCA Underclass All-State Supreme 15 team, which is IBCA's top honor for non-seniors. Additionally, Carroll freshman Alli Harness and Tipton sophomore Ashlee Schram make the Underclass Small School all-state team.
VOLLEY: Western hires Jessica (Ronk) Oliver as new coach. She was a 3-sport athlete at Western. She helped Panthers finish as softball state runners-up in 1993.
