How can we better communicate with cancer patients & families? Great talk by @Sisk_MD at #FACTOR2020: his research calls new attention to “supporting hope” and “providing validation” in the peds onc setting. In my opinion also essential when caring for young adults with cancer.

Congratulations @jalivingston_md on receiving the Outsmarting Osteosarcoma @AgentsMIB award. Can’t wait to see what you learn about the immune atlas in osteosarcoma lung metastases. #FACTOR2020

Exciting announcement at #FACTOR2020: @Count_Me_In just launched @The_OSProject. Tremendous opportunity for #osteosarcoma patients and families to contribute to a new, comprehensive database desperately needed to drive discoveries for this rare disease.
We've just launched @The_OSProject, a research study that aims to accelerate our understanding of osteosarcoma. The project was built with input from patients, parents, caregivers, loved ones, clinicians, and scientists. Find out more: #JoinCountMeIn

After 1 year of chemo, 3 major surgeries, and 17 admissions... a 5k! So proud to walk with other patients and doctors in the fight against osteosarcoma. #MakeItBetter #OutrunningOsteosarcoma #FACTOR2020

My sister painted this bowl in response to my reflection. I’m tremendously grateful for the family, friends, and doctors who work to repair my cracks.
As a doc I understand the need for a break from constant patient care. But now that I live and sleep w cancer, I selfishly want my team to do the same. I want my physicians to be as driven by the fear of my death as I am, via @BGabster

@drdougboston I really appreciate your perspective on cancer innovation. I’ve been fortunate to speak with some of the people working on the frontiers of osteosarcoma research, and it gives me hope for the future. Thank you, again, for your thoughts.

@drdougboston I’m sorry you, too, have had to learn directly about the patient experience. I wish there were an easier way to glean these lessons.

Osteosarcoma has challenged my faith, optimism, and resilience. It has also filled me with love, gratitude, and a deeper determination to improve cancer care. Here’s my reflection, published today in @JAMA_current:
