Recalling my first day at CTV Northern Ontario in Dec 2011.
Was thrilled to be anchoring back in the hometown.
This week marks the end of a chapter.
Thanks to all.
Best,
Brendan

It’s a man in his 50’s who attended the PDAC convention in Toronto. He is now in self-isolation.
What a day in Northern Ontario !

🎄Happy Christmas to all my friends and colleagues. These original lyrics, before Sinatra changed them, seem appropriate.
“Someday soon we all will be together
If the fates allow.
Until then, we’ll have to muddle through somehow
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.”
Well done everyone! Different circumstances this year, but the performing talent was fabulous as always, (including my colleague
@CTVMARINAMOORE
You rocked it MM !)
And also impressive is the generosity of Northerners even in a tough year for many.
Outside Lviv station, which is thronging with exhausted refugees fleeing war in eastern Ukraine, an accomplished pianist is playing “What a Wonderful World.” It’s hauntingly beautiful.

@EvanLSolomon
Outstanding work my friend !Strong and fearless reporting in that crowd on a very difficult day. You retained your poise and kept up your narration and questions.
(Kudos to your shooter also !)
A tough day for Canadians to watch.
Stay safe Evan.

UPDATE:
Vale says 39 employees at Vale’s Totten mine are safe and are mobilizing to exit the underground mine today after an incident Sunday in the shaft.
They will exit via a ladder system with support of Vale’s mine rescue team. The workers immediately went to refuge stations.
This interview is heartbreaking. It’s also a reminder of how Lisa Laflamme is an empathetic and professional anchor. Nick Beaton recalls the last conversation he had with his wife, a nurse killed by a gunman in Nova Scotia.
A fine story by my friend and colleague, Jairus Patterson, a solid reporter and storyteller who is finishing up his time working for CTV in the Soo. Good luck in your next chapter Jairus!

Never a year where paying attention to mental health and the welfare of colleagues and friends was more important.
Check on someone today.
Hockey players man.
They’re the best people.
This kid survived a mass shooting at Sandy Hook in 2012
Rangers captain Jacob Trouba gave him a scholarship to go to law school —and asked to be invited to his graduation.
Tnx SF.
Never easy when the cuts come, but I’ll be OK.
Happy to have anchored with you for a bit, and I’m glad to follow your career.
You are great in that Barrie anchoring role !
@BConnorTV
Love this B - I know I’ve told you but I’m really sorry about the situation and I’m so grateful I had the chance to work together and learn so much from you.
Here’s one of my favourite shots - “the last supper” - a thoughtful send off from a great colleague and friend.
This is not funny and it’s not cool. As much as I’d love to say it doesn’t bother me, it does. It makes me feel like sh*t. Especially as VJ who is always alone. This still happens to female reporters everywhere and it needs to stop.
NEW:
“Following discussions with the CMOH, Toronto Public Health and hospital partners, I am happy to announce that they have signed off on allowing 550 fully vaccinated frontline health care workers, including hospital and long-term care staff, to be invited to attend Game 7

between 2.6 and 3.7 in magnitude and were felt in the community. Employees were all accounted for and brought safely to surface. Day shift was cancelled at Creighton Mine today.
Thanks Slats.
Job cuts are terrible and never easy to be part of them, but I’ve been here before.
I’ll be all good.
Appreciate what you have said here.
@BConnorTV
Sorry to hear BC. A big loss for viewers across Northeastern Ontario and the young journalists coming up in the industry. Heck of a run on that desk.
