news is misreporting. In response to govt declining 10K emergency visas for lorry drivers, 1. Brexit not mentioned, 2. Govt spokesman broadcast saying British people voted repeatedly to end Freedom of Movement /1

I’ve offered to work (NHS) and my offer was accepted. I haven’t done monarchy since ‘77 when I was 17 and it must have been a silver jubilee or some such. No regrets here. Folk want to watch, it’s fine by me.
Today’s Brexitometer in Wakefield. No appetite for GE nor May’s Deal. 2:1 folk want to

. We all sensed a real change today. Met a number of ‘I voted leave but I wouldn’t now.’ Rare to hear this before.
Germany’s minister of state for Europe, said Johnson was mistaken “to believe that the EU will let itself be blackmailed”. He told the TV channel ZDF: “My message to the new British prime minister is very clear. Boris, the election campaign is over."
@RickyDHale
MPs’ pay needs to be fixed now. It must not rise again until every public sector employee has seen their pay rise by the same % as MPs has since 2010. Some healthcare staff have seen their salary drop by 28% in real terms since 2010.

My friend of 40 years who was taking powerful immunosuppressive drugs and who died of Covid in April 2020 didn’t ‘cower’. He had no choice.
"This is a cabinet of second-rate ideologues, with negligible records of ministerial achievement and several with very dubious political ethics. All the positions of power are held by Brexit extremists. The rest are hostages to the hard Brexiters."
@DavidDavisMP
I’m prepared to take my chance with history. By contrast, You will be vilified for your laziness and incompetence. I look forward to your testimony at the Brexit Public Inquiry.
"There can be no better illustration of the disconnect between the people and the Tory leadership than its wilful ignorance of the sheer scale of the growing countrywide opposition to its mindless stampede towards a no-deal Brexit."

Three million EU citizens living in the UK and 1.5 million young folk who were under 18 on June 23 2016 feel exactly as you do !
@TanjaBueltmann
I agree. I’m 62. When I was a boy, I can recall Remembrance Sunday and the silence, traffic was stopped driving past the memorial. Everyone was older than me then and they were simply remembering the tragic waste. There was no sense of triumphalism. It was utterly different.
@timloughton
If you voted for him to be leader, will you also be resigning your seat and leaving public service forever ? If not, why not ?
This is on everyone that ever backed Johnson.

I'm a Labour member but might I suggest those who "can't forgive the LDs" should, just get over it. Brexit and NHS are much more important

I've found that when we staff the

stall each week a couple of folk will quietly say, 'Keep up the good work' or 'Thanks for what you're doing.' Work colleague said the same when, in response to his question about the weekend, I said I was on the stall.
"The consensus amongst credible economists – that Brexit will, overall, be negative for the UK economy and public finances – remains intact. Note how few of those who have published forecasts have seen the need to revisit them."

Sorry to spoil party. My favourite is the operation, usually an emergency, where you didn’t do much but you did enough and not too much but you did it at the right time. The patient did well. That’s enough for me. ‘It’s not about me.’ Sorry.

Hé has a CV to die for. I have read quotes from people who worked alongside him that say, he was inspirational. I am prepared to take this on trust. I believe that Starmer will be an inspirational PM !

We need to keep pushing, the bars must all shut. The restaurant must stop being subsidised and food and drink need to stop being expenses. Out of hours NHS provision should be standard for MPs.

If constituency is within 60 miles of London, MP should not be eligible for rent nor travel expenses. Many regular folk commute 60 each way per day. Moreover, public transport to/from London is vg

Once Brexit has been stopped I would wish to see a judicially-Chair Public Inquiry to look into Brexit. Vast ToR but those who lied need to be held to account.

I'm sad about this because I've been party member for nearly 30 yrs and my beliefs have not changed. I'm also sad because Labour have some superb MPs and prospective MEPs but I cannot support the party any longer. I shan't join another party but I'll vote REMAIN /end
@CCriadoPerez
I disagree. The BBC's performance on Brexit has been desperately poor. Highlighting this is not undermining the BBC, they are undermining themselves.
@implausibleblog
What a superb idea to talk to the Blue Light staff. They will know what they have done but some thanks will be gratefully received. Of course some folk will have seen awful things !

Always. I’m nearly 62. I’ve been this girl all of my life, that I remember. I can’t watch because I watched in 1970. I can remember the room layout where we watched the game. I hope this girl doesn’t have to wait 55 years.

Let's be absolutely clear, the Brexiteers own the outcome of Leave. They broke it and they will have to fix it, except it can't be fixed.
@SimonPease1
Quite. And refugees, it is our privilege to offer them shelter and aid. I’ve met a bunch of Iraqi and Syrian refugees through NHS work. Just think for a moment what these folk may have had to witness or endure. Could you or I endure it ?

If Truss had one iota of insight, one fcuking iota, she would resign as an MP and make a ‘I am not fit .. up to it .. lack the insight’ resignation speech. That she is not doing so defines her.

You can buy a metal angle grinder for under £20 and cut the bike lock off in 10s. Not much help. Approach Martin Lewis or Personal Finance section of a newspaper or Guardian daily podcast ?

Spot on Steve. Why do MSM have this blind spot ? Cameron/Osborne cut for growth because of RW dogma. What they should have done is borrowed to invest in infrastructure à la Keynes and FDR !
