This is truly confusing. Why in the world should a team be penalized for playing in altitude? Isn’t it harder to play at altitude, yet the BPI penalizes these schools? Truly don’t understand…

It was almost assuredly due in part to predictive metric BPI, which is on team sheets (along with KenPom) & penalizes teams at altitude (see below).
