I'm very excited to announce that I've been selected as an Archibald Prize Finalist 2024
It was an honour for me to paint

This is the most beautiful moment of my life and one that I would like to share with you all. After 2,737 days locked up in detention – I am free.
Thank you to all of the amazing people who helped me to stay strong.

JUST IN: Great news! 9 of our brothers have just been released from 9 years detention in our community from Park Hotel prison. Eight been given Bridging Visa E and one Community Detention Visa. There are still 18 left and so please continue to be our voices.

48 hours after eight years in detention, I am here in the Yarra Valley, at a Jimmy Barnes concert. The most Aussie experience I could ever imagine. I am so deeply grateful to Jimmy and the Barnes family for the invitation.

The whole world is watching as Novak Djokovic is detained at Park hotel prison. As a refugee I was imprisoned there, & refugees are still imprisoned there in tiny rooms without fresh air. No one deserves this. Let’s not forget the people that will remain long after Novak leaves.
During the apartheid, Nelson Mandela was allowed to study in jail. I've been banned from studying by the Australian Government for Nine years. If I had been allowed to study, I would have obtained my PhD by now.
Today is Human Rights Day 2021!
#HumanRightsDay
Just in : More than a dozen refugees from the Park Hotel prison and other detention facilities are free after 9 years! We will shut down this hotel forever as a prison. Congratulations to all of these wonderful refugees for their resilience.

After eight years of detention and a long journey, tonight I finally met the new Australian Prime Minister,
@AlboMP
, face to face. I really hope that he chooses to give me and my friends permanent safety and security in this beautiful country that has become home.
Julie Bishop had an agenda when she asked me that question on The Project last night. She wanted to protect the cruelty of what the Government did to refugees, especially children on Nauru.
Now her new job is destroying the environment with mining companies.
@theprojecttv
BREAKING : Australia accepts the NZ offer to resettle innocent refugees who have been incarcerated for 9 years.
Today is an incredible victory for human rights & shows that the Govt cannot ignore people power!
Today is my birthday & this is the best present ever!

I have painted a self portrait with toothbrushes, coffee and some acrylic paints on a canvas 195 cm by 180 cm to submit for the Archibald Prize this year.
For 8 years in detention I was a number,
For 8 years I was called KNS088.
Title : KNS088
Tonight hundreds of candles are lit in solidarity with innocent refugees who've been held hostage by the AUS Govt in the Park Hotel for no crime!
We continue our fight till all of them get free.
Because it's happening in the name of good Australia. They shouldn't be there!
I haven't seen my mother for nine years. When we have video calls, she always asks me, am I safe?
I say I am free Mum and your smile is my safety.
For four years in the Manus detention centre we were not allowed to have phones.
#HappyMothersDay
I highly respect you Grace Tame. We are connected through a mutual understanding of torture. It's an honour for me to have your strong support. It means a lot to me that you came to the court and stood beside me.
You are a gift for the world. Go Grace and change the world.
Breaking : Don Khan is a refugee who was imprisoned for 8 years by the AUS Govt. He was just 16 when he was sent to Manus. Today he got his freedom. For nearly 2 years he was locked up in the Mantra and Park prisons. Big congratulations to Don Khan for his incredible resistance!
This is the room that 2 refugees should share with each other. No fresh air, it's just a glass & outside a cement wall which hurt us. People cannot see us any more. The glasses are tinted. This government has attempted to weaken our resistance. Shame on this government.
#auspoI
Breaking : All of the refugees who were locked up in the Park prison & other refugees from different detention facilities who came through medevac are free! These hotels should never again be used to detain us!
We celebrate this day with everyone who has stood with us!

Breaking : Two medivac refugees already got free from the Park prison after 8 years.
Congratulations!!!
There are only 34 refugees in there!
People in Australia don't want this hotel to be used as a prison. Free them now. Let them live with their friends and family.

My visa was renewed today. Only for six months again.
They asked me to leave Australia.
It's heartbreaking that the two major parties are still treating refugees with hate.
I believe that people in Australia didn't change the Government to see this.
They have started tinting the rest of the windows so that you cannot see us at all. This is the only window that we can see each other. The are going to make us invisible. We need to see each other. This government is so cruel.

For one quarter of our lives we have been locked up in detention by the Australian government and we are still suffering. We came to escape torture and we are still being tortured. We are just numbers for them.

The decision will be made in the next few months hopefully.
The peaceful protests are getting stronger by wonderful people in Melbourne. Their message is very clear. They don't want the Australian government to keep refugees in quarantine indefinitely. 8 years in prison without any crime.
Thank you so much for your support.

If I am able to obtain my freedom, there should be the opportunity for the others seeking asylum to have their freedom as well. Until all of us are free, none of us are truly free.
Last year today I won my freedom which was the best moment in whole my life. We shouldn't forget there are still 32 innocent human beings are locked up there indefinitely. If the rules are rules, they should be free as well.

Today hundreds of people in Melbourne are protesting in solidarity with refugees held hostage in the Park prison. The Aus government are still trapping these innocent human beings with covid. We are not going to be silent. Thanks everyone for your continued support!

I challenge the Morrison government because they have violated my basic human rights and locked me up in so-called 'hotels' illegally. I want to get my rights back and live like others in society.
My visa was renewed today.
Only for six months.
No rights to study or get a qualification yet.
The Labor Government and the Liberal party are competitively racing to the bottom.
They want me to leave Australia.
Happy New Year.
I had a meeting yesterday with the Minister of Immigration Andrew Giles face to face. He announced that the Labor Gov will not change the policy & Medevac refugees will not get permanent visa in AUS.
What kind of hotel forbids freedom of movement, and places a glass barricade between you and your friends? What kind of hotel has officers do a head count every day? Or have their ‘guests’ be subjected to a pat-down search?
This is not a hotel – this is a prison.

There are 12 refugees in Port Moresby that need Urgent Medical treatment.
They are very sick.
If you cannot provide Medical treatment for them, if you cannot bring them to Australia, let them leave PNG!
Australians are better than this.
We need to continue to think about the people who remain in detention. There will still be 14 people locked up behind the tinted glass. There are also refugees from Manus and Nauru in MITA, BITA, Kangaroo Point and other detention centres, struggling behind fences.
Lovely to see you
@Craig_Foster
in real life. There's no tinted glass between us any more. I truly appreciate your remarkable support my brother.

When people are in quarantine, they know that after two weeks they'll be free and they know the reason is because of COVID-19.
We've been kept in quarantine indefinitely & the reason is because we fled from danger & sought asylum to AUS for help.

11/11 is a special day for me!
Scott Morrison and Peter Dutton tortured me on Manus for years and told people in Australia that I am terrorist, illiterate and rubbish person. Scott Morrison came inside Manus detention centre and pointed at me and other refugees and said,
(1/2)
Most of these people are now in your land, but still waiting for their freedom. These people have families and friends just like you. These people are human. These people have hopes and dreams, they are already a part of this society. Yet they need your help.
1- CRITICAL SITUATION AT Park PRISON (Hotel) : At least 13 refugees have tested postive with Covid. Morrison, Serco and ABF are trying to cover this up. Ambulances cannot get in, and one was turned away by Serco for someone who was on a RESPIRATOR.

Hello???
Can you hear me?
Every month, the Australian Government has spent $350,000 to hold an innocent human being seeking safety in a cage.
How have they spent the money?
Panadol and water?
The cost to Australian taxpayers to hold a single refugee on Nauru has escalated tenfold to more than $350,000 every month – or $4.3m a year – as the government refuses to reveal where nearly $400m spent on offshore processing on the island has gone.
Over a thousand people are still locked up in detention indefinitely. Hundreds of them for more than 10 years.
How long do they have to wait for their freedom?
No one has ever answered this question in Parliament House!
Day 19
I would like to express my appreciation for all the amazing Australians who are standing up for us and fighting for our freedom and thank you so much for emailing and calling MPs today. We will win this battle together. Lots of love. ❤️
