Reflecting on yesterday’s X Space, I realized how much the Uganda Water Week has shaped me. It started with a hackathon where my team’s idea, Plascredit, won 3rd place. The next year, we won the University Debates. Since then, I’ve been on high-level panels, been hosted on the Youth Career Talk Show, and seen the power of empowering young voices. Each Water Week has been a stepping stone, pushing me to grow and contribute. Grateful for this platform and excited #UWEWK25

We’ve turned our rivers into dumping grounds, our wetlands into construction sites, and our future into a ticking time bomb. We’re talking about water scarcity, but are we ready to talk about the corruption, the greed, and the sheer incompetence that’s draining our resources dry? Join me on my FIRST X Space of the year as the Executive Director of @BetterLife_Int as we rip into the Uganda Water Week 2025 (UWEWK25) together with @NkunsiPamela @RobertJTurykira under the theme: “Water and Environment Resources for Enhanced Resilience and Improved Incomes and Livelihoods.”

Foundation S together with @sanofi are showing the world that Africa should not be treated as a project and are seeing us as the Local Solutions Campus in Dakar, Foundation S pledged to support Local solutions in Africa. Foundation S will be collaborating with @BetterLife_Int to strengthen the capacity of refugees and internally displaced persons in the face of the climate crisis through smart and sustainable agriculture. Africa’s potential is a favorite topic at global conferences, but when it comes to action, the people driving change on the ground—our local innovators—are left out of the room. We get told what we need, yet no one asks us what’s already working. We are spoken for, but rarely spoken to. Billions are pledged to save Africa, yet somehow the funding never reaches the people who actually need it. The bitter truth is that the world doesn’t want to see us as equals. They want to “help,” but only on their terms. We get solar kits that break after six months because they weren’t designed for our climate. We get reports about what’s “needed” in Africa, written by people who’ve never set foot on the continent. Meanwhile, local innovators—who understand the real challenges and have real solutions—are left out of funding, policy, and platforms. So here’s the real question…Is the world ready to stop treating Africa as a project and start seeing us as partners? If not, all the talk about “empowering Africa” is just that—talk.
