Researcher Spotlight 🔦 Alba Madrid Cagigal is a dedicated PhD researcher at @uniofgalway and psychologist with a deep passion for exploring the complexities of human behaviour through research. Her journey began during her undergraduate studies at @uneatlantico, where she conducted a study examining the relationship between body dissatisfaction and alexithymia in non-clinical populations. This experience not only highlighted the importance of high-quality research but also ignited her drive to make meaningful contributions to the field. During her MSc in Health Psychology at @uniofgalway, Alba delved into another fascinating area, investigating how stress influences snacking behaviours among college students. This project not only expanded her knowledge of psychology but also honed her research skills, from study design to data analysis. Alba’s academic journey has opened her eyes to countless new areas of psychology, and she’s eager to continue growing as a researcher, advance her expertise and drive impactful change. Alba, who is a researcher on #AtlanticFutures RS4 - 'Digital mental health support for young people', was thrilled to announce recently that her systematic review and meta-analysis on digital mental health interventions for university students with mental health difficulties has been accepted for publication. (Watch this space for details!). Here’s to Alba and her inspiring commitment to advancing psychological research with us at Atlantic Futures! 🚀 Atlantic Futures is funded by @hea_irl as part of the North South Research Programme. #Research #Psychology #MentalHealth #DigitalMentalHealth #PhDJourney #ResearchGoals #NSRP #SharedIsland

Researcher Spotlight 🔦 After completing his Master’s degree in Finance and Investment, Ming Yang assumed roles at several tech giants, including Tencent and vivo. With years of experience in financial analysis, Ming not only honed his quantitative research skills but also acquired the ability to tackle complex issues. His experience overseeing the budget forecasts for the mega-app Wechat provided him with insights into what a company requires to flourish. Driven by a passion to explore the dynamics of entrepreneurial ecosystems and their impact on regional development, Ming joined the @uniofgalway to pursue research on the governance and management of entrepreneurial ecosystems in the Atlantic Innovation Corridor, guided by Professor Jonathan Levie. Ming is valued member of Atlantic Futures Research Stream 1 - 'Comparing entrepreneurial ecosystems in rural regions with small cities and towns' His research aims to contribute to the development of a regionally balanced economy by identifying and addressing bottlenecks within specific regional entrepreneurial ecosystems in the West of Ireland and the West of Northern Ireland.
