I think STEM (CS specifically) is *perfect* for women who wants to spend time with their families as they can work from anywhere! Hasn’t the pandemic shown that enough? It’s even more flexible than jobs such as nursing which requires you to be physically in the hospital/on call.

I relate. Dulu pas apply s1/s2/internship super ambis banget, kesel galau ga dapet pilihan 1 2 3 dll. Tapi in hindsight dapet pilihan yang terbaik dalam segala segi tanpa disengaja. Pas apply s3 udah bener pasrah yang penting s3, percaya aja kalo pilihanNya selalu yang terbaik :)

Lol true story. I switched my major from CS to AI because I got a 0 in my Object Oriented Programming (Java) mock exam. I’m so much better at Java now, but starting over with Python made me feel much less like a failure.
Menurut gue ini penting banget nih, gue sering nemu mahasiswa informatika/ilkom malah jadi ga mau ngoding karena salah bahasa di awal, karena biasanya di kampus2 mulainya pake C or C++.
Sedangkan banyak yg otodidak jadi suka ngoding karena dapet tutorial enak dan bahasanya

Extremely thankful that I switched my degree from CS to AI in my first year. Otherwise, that would’ve been my biggest regret, as I learned that software engineering is pretty much learned through experience, while AI/ML theory is so difficult to grasp without formal education.

Got a 0 in a Java mock practical exam because code didn’t compile. Switched my degree to AI and never looked back 🙈
PSA to potential employers, yes, I have improved since then and can fluently code in Java.
Flex your lowest academic low score.
To remind us that almost everyone fails at some point in life but it isn't the end of the road. Just a memory in the end.
Mine was 27/100 in Engineering Math 2, just a year after I'd scored 99 in 12th boards. Much needed kick in my butt.

Couldn’t agree more! Too many women in STEM have been told that they only got their opportunities/achievements because they are a girl, and have their merit reduced to the fact that they happen to be born a certain way.
My advice for women and other underrepresented minorities in certain fields is to seek community & role models. E.g., I may not have majored in CS if
