This is very dangerous. Local gov depend on accurate weather forecasts to open warming/cooling shelters. Do you know how many (appreciated) warnings I got re: snow these past days, and how much a friend suffered bc he didn't get those NOAA/NWS- fed alerts?
There it is. DOGE is telling NOAA to reduce its staff by 50% and funding to the agency by 30%. They weren’t “auditing” the weather career field, they’re slashing it. They’re likely to go after the NWS next.
