@ntrider825 @ATFulemin One thing we mentioned in passing but didn’t go into detail on was that his individual shot and chance generation has gone way down from age 22-24, which is bizarre. Any obvious reason why that’s occurred?

@SolInvi24645112 @JosephPolitano The potential for perception of quid pro quo for later political benefits is quite bad imo. Especially in an era where heads of state try to put subtle or unsubtle pressure on central bankers for specific policy actions

@DeepDishEnjoyer Seems like one of those things that trading has a more negative view of than tech. Similar to you, at my office, overconfidence paired with relative incompetence is viewed as a HORRIFIC combo, and the awareness to know when you’re out of your depth is required.

@ejmichele The point streak is a fun piece of trivia, and I’ve liked parts of what I’ve seen from him, but so many people are out over their skis on him. His stats are not particularly eye popping at all, and there’s not a lot of strong reasons excusing that imo.

@ntrider825 Yeah, a billion point shots and scrums are inherently limiting. Guentzel seemingly finished okay with them, and I imagine Rantanen will too, but tbd if elevates them.

@ntrider825 Yeah, Micah has him as a pretty meh play driver who mostly gets value from finishing. Which would help CAR, and that finishing is pretty damn useful. But my initial reaction was prolly too strong.

@ntrider825 Yeah, I guess I’m assuming they’ll keep Rantanen, which maybe is more likely now, but we saw this not happen with Guentzel. I haven’t dug into Rantanen’s stats away from MacKinnon, but he strikes me as the real deal

@ryxcommar Sorry, didn’t mean to imply otherwise. Obviously, a lot of talk about scam coins recently, so that’s where my mind went first.

@RandallSPQR @ryxcommar Oh, there’s definitely scumminess there, don’t get me wrong. The marketing is really awful too; just meant that the game is more transparent than the shitcoin lottery

@ajordannafa @Tyler_Menzer Depends on the second order effect. If the CC debt is replaced with loan shark or payday loan debt, that might be worse. IDK what the actual effect would be, to be clear.

@wanyeburkett My then 18-month old niece saw a picture of a dog in my house via Facetime once, gave it a name, and when I visited her > 6 months later, asked about it. I was stunned.

@__paleologo Can only speak to my experience at UToronto stats, but had a bunch of colleagues do a wide variety of things (theoretical ML, optimal control, game theory, applied Bayesian methods) and end up in strong finance related jobs (SIG, Voleon, CitSec, Ontario Teachers, etc)

@Michael_Druggan A lot of high value H1Bs are professors, unclear that universities would be able to win these bids, no?
