Friends: I was humbled and exhilarated to hike earlier this week on the Timmerman Traverse for Life Science Cares. I want to thank every individual and company that supported my Trek, including @simchatx, Engine Room, Stipple Bio, and @DispatchBio. We are SO close to our ambitious fundraising goal of $1,000,000. If you are in the Life Science Industry at any level, PLEASE consider donating to this incredibly worthy cause. Life Science Cares is a platform to enable our industry to give back to the communities that make our important work possible. It directs funding to existing 501c3 organizations to support poverty reduction initiatives and pathways to opportunity. As a scientific investigator, educator, and mentor, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to expand the talent pipeline into the Life Sciences. Any amount you can spare would be a great help (see donation link below). Thank you also all my fellow hikers for inspiring me with your talent and passion. And of course to @ldtimmerman and Sarah MacDonald for granting me the opportunity to contribute.

@AdrianoAguzzi Thanks Adriano, I would love that! In due time: a few weeks ago while running downhill on wet rocks, I slipped and tore my right supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons, and I’m scheduled for surgery on June 25.🙁 you are inspiring my recovery!

@AdrianoAguzzi Last August 28, I was evacuated by helicopter after I ruptured my quadriceps tendon in the Sierras. Recovery was tough, but last week I finished the Boston Marathon and qualified to do it again next year: you can come back too. looking forward to joining you on a trail!

@genecerebra Thanks for pointing me to this fascinating work - clearly there is more to learn on the variety of DNA sensors! Congrats on an impressive set of studies supporting SLFN11 as a nuclear/cytoplasmic sensor for ssDNA containing CGT (methylated or not)!
