In response to an oral question on "the situation of mosques", Toufiq pointed out that the Ministry had also allocated 275.5 million dirhams for the same year for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of damaged mosques. The Minister pointed out that 146.9 million dirhams had been earmarked for the preservation and restoration of historic mosques, while 264.9 million dirhams had been earmarked for equipping 1,640 mosques with energy-efficient equipment. Concerning the mosques damaged by the earthquake in Al Haouz, Toufiq specified that their number amounts to 2,217 mosques, noting that the ministry has set up a special programme for the rehabilitation of affected buildings of worship and waqfs, over a period of three years, with a budget of 1.2 MDH, and has created a special unit at central level to ensure the follow-up and execution of this programme. Toufiq pointed out that, "as part of the achievement of strategic objectives inspired by the High Directions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Amir Al Mouminine, 17 religious, administrative and cultural complexes have been built, at a total cost of 1.2 billion dirhams, while 225 million dirhams have been allocated in the budget for the current financial year to the construction, development and maintenance of these complexes".
