NatureScot's marine monitoring team, in collaboration with @ArranCoast, are this week diving in the Lamlash Bay No Take Zone within the South Arran MPA. The team are contributing to ongoing monitoring of seabed habitats & scallops in the Bay.

The @scotgov is legally required to address impacts of harmful fishing on the environment - a duty they have repeatedly neglected. It’s time for them to heed the call of the Scottish people & reform fisheries management as sustainable fishing is essential to protect livelihoods

Together with @kingcharlesfund we can drive impactful initiatives that will protect & restore the waters around Arran, setting a shining example for sustainable marine management both nationally and globally.
One of the charities awarded funding is @ArranCoast. This pioneering charity established Scotland’s first No-Take Zone in Lamlash Bay which provides a crucial breeding and nursery ground for various marine species, and this was subsequently followed by the creation of the South Arran Marine Protected Area in 2016. Our funding will help to protect and restore these areas, and enable COAST to share learning nationally and globally.
