She highlighted that prevention alone is not enough—safe spaces must be created for children to disclose abuse. Can a marathon help protect children? Events like the #TataMumbaiMarathon are a powerful platform to raise awareness and ignite change. At this year’s Mumbai Marathon, Team Arpan turned every step, every slogan, and every banner into a bold statement for child safety. While we chanted “No Excuse for Abuse - Stop Right Now” and “All children in India are #ProtectedbyPOCSO”, it was heartening to see our voices strengthened by the runners’ and volunteers’ voices that joined in. People stopped at our Motivation Zone to pledge “I Stand Against Child Sexual Abuse”. An issue like Child Sexual Abuse needs to be out there in the public domain; it needs to be a topic free from stigma; it needs to be spoken about in loud and clear voices, not in whispers. And that’s exactly what we did, along with thousands of participants and onlookers! We used our voice to bring awareness and change. Will you?
