Your Religious Rituals, Practices, and Good Works Cannot Save You! I grew up in a very devout Catholic family, and here’s what that looked like for me: •Praying the rosary four times a day •Being baptized as a child •Attending catechism classes every Saturday •Doing First Communion and Confirmation •Attending Mass every Sunday at the only Catholic church in my town in the Dominican Republic •Confessing my sins to the priest •Praying to Mary and kneeling before images of “Jesus” and Mary •I even prayed to my grandmother for help or guidance after she passed away Despite my religious devotion, I never had peace or a sure answer to this question: Where will I go when I die? Fast forward to when I moved to New York to join my family. I fell into a deep depression, which led me, at the age of 15, to attempt suicide. But God, in His grace and mercy, not only spared my life but also saved me from an eternity in hell, separated from Him forever. In His perfect plan, the Lord used my dear uncle and a small church in Queens, New York, to share the gospel of Jesus Christ which led me to true saving faith. Two verses that were key in changed my life: •John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” •Ephesians 2:8: “For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8 shattered my belief that good works plus Jesus could save me. The Lord opened my eyes to the seriousness of my sins before a Perfect and Holy God. I realized I rightfully deserved hell. But Jesus, who lived the perfect life I could not, was punished in my place. God’s wrath was fully satisfied at the cross, and Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. Now, He is seated at the right hand of God. •I repented and confessed my sins—this time, not to a priest, but to God Himself. •Because of Christ’s perfect sacrifice, I am now reconciled with God and adopted into His family. •Just as God saved a wretched sinner like me, He extends that same grace and mercy to anyone who would repent and call on His name. Today is the day of salvation, for tomorrow is not promised. All glory be to God! 🙏✨

From 15 felonies to following Christ! I laughed. I cried. Once again, I was left speechless at the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to save wretched sinners like us. I sit down with Chuck Holmes, the Director of Mount Nebo Prison Ministry. From a Marine veteran to 15-time convicted felon, Chuck spent nearly 14 years behind bars, trapped in addiction and hopelessness. But in 1989, everything changed—on the floor of a jail cell in Phoenix, he encountered Jesus Christ, and his life has never been the same. I can’t wait to share Chuck’s testimony soon! @OrdinaryWith @thebar_network

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”Romans 1:16-17
