The Arkansas Supreme Court’s ruling today was a huge win for students, teachers, and education in Arkansas. We are pleased with the court’s ruling and will immediately resume efforts to implement the most bold, comprehensive education reform law in the nation.
15 exceptional teachers from around the state were honored today as 2020 Arkansas Teacher of the Year Regional Finalists. Four were announced as semi-finalists for the 2020 ATOY during a ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion. Congratulations to all of these outstanding educators!
Commissioner Key had the pleasure of meeting Akire Lynn Williamson today! Williamson, a 5th-grader at Murrell Taylor Elem., wrote an anti-bullying book and companion journal titled "Twinkle." She recently won a Peace Award in Chicago and a No Bullying Hero Award in DC.
Secretary Jacob Oliva visited with more than 20 superintendents today at the Arch Ford Education Service Cooperative. The secretary is traveling the state to meet with superintendents at every co-op to discuss LEARNS, standard revisions, and the new student assessment for 2024.
