“List of Zionist authors.”
“List of Zionist figure skaters.”
“List of Zionist [insert profession].”
Then you look for why these people are being added to shunning lists & it’s “showed compassion on October 7th” or “is Jewish & once visited Israel as a teenager.”
Do better.
Without fail, every single post about antisemitism faced by Diaspora Jews is flooded with replies that can be summed up as, "The baby killer demon Jew rats deserve it because they poison every country they go to. Zionazis must be eliminated by any means necessary."
Every Time.
I'm getting real fucking sick of the "Actually, I love ethnic cleansing and genocide, as long as it's happening to the RIGHT people who I view as non-people whose blood is not pure enough to live where they live," crowd.
Ah, the duality of being Jewish.
Targeted for genocide to the tune of 6 million murdered for NOT being white.
Told many decades later it wasn't REALLY that bad & people just act like it was because we apparently ARE white.
(meanwhile, white supremacists continue to target us)
Adolf Hitler is only considered the most evil man in history because his victims were white. On the barometer of evil men historically, he doesn't even crack the top 10.
I'm sorry but this is just new levels of batshit.
Apparently, antisemitism only exists in Europe because Jews are a concept formed in the "psyche" of others, and the "figure of the 'Jew'" doesn't exist in the Global South.
This woman is a professor...
...of German philosophy.
@SikhFeminist
People in the Global South have no figure of the 'Jew' in their psyche, around which anything like 'antisemitism' could form. It's a white European Christian archetype, as you say. It's THEIR neurosis, for which others are being made to pay.
I'm sorry, how many times does someone need to massacre a synagogue/shoot up a kosher supermarket/stab a Yeishivah student/drive a car into a Chasidic family/call in a bomb threat to a Jewish elementary school/etc etc etc before antisemitism becomes a "meaningful problem" to you?
@TaliaRinger
No context needed for this one, non-zionist jews should wear watermelon symbols or kiffayh or any Palestinians symbols so they don't get associated with the child killers(zionists).
zionists are the only to blame for this.
If you’re going to make a massive banner in Hebrew, I feel like at least one person involved should actually be able to, you know, READ AND WRITE IN HEBREW?
Something that disturbs me abt ppl who feel the need to deny Jewish Levantine history in order to condemn the actions of Israel is the implication that if they DID accept that Jews are also indigenous to the region, they would not oppose violence & oppression wrought by a state.
I cannot believe people are seriously arguing that genocide has no impact on the survival of languages and that the Holocaust was irrelevant to the decline of Yiddish language and culture.
No, antisemitism does not "apply to Arabs too."
The term 'antisemitism' was coined specifically to describe hatred of Jews as a racialized group because 19th-century European racists felt that 'Judenhaas' just didn't sound "scientific" enough.
🧐 not seeing anything from any of the politicians who condemn antisemitism in reaction to things that aren’t actual instances of antisemitism. That’s odd. Do they not know antisemitism applies to Arabs too?
Regardless of your stance on Zionism as it has manifested historically & presently, this is an unacceptable mixture of bias & revisionism specifically as it depends on erasing Jewish ethnic identity to paint Ashkenazim as inherently European & Jewish history as religious mythos.
When ppl make lists of “Zionist authors” where “Zionist” can range from ethnonationalism & anti-Palestinian racism to mentioning an Israeli relative or condemning violence & supporting a Palestinian state, I think it may be time to admit “Zionist” has been rendered meaningless.
People are shooting at Jewish schools, calling in bomb threats to synagogues, & trying to drive cars into yeshiva students. So if "the most uncomfortable" you've been is someone asking you a question about your necklace, I'd say you're pretty damn comfortable & should sit down.
I see that Booktwt is once again boycotting authors because...*checks notes*...the Hebrew language exists and sometimes books are translated into it.
Fantastic work folks.
You are truly doing so much to help. /s
There are only ~40k Mexican Jews.
Most live in Mexico City.
Most are NOT Israeli.
So you don’t want Jews to live in Israel, but you ALSO don’t want us to live anywhere else, & any politician who is “allowing” us to (ie: not either mass-deporting or killing citizens) a “Zionist?”
In 1933 a deal was made with the devil and as a results the lives of 60,000 Jews were saved.
Some people are still mad about it.
Not at the devil, mind you, but rather that those 60,000 did not become ash at the devil’s hands.
For a lot of the "anti-Hillel" folks, wanting Jews to "throw away the lifeline to [our] culture" is a feature, not a bug.
They tell themselves it's "anti-Zionist, not antisemitic" bc hey, they have no problem with Jews...so long as we're properly assimilated & acculturated.
Sure, you protest pro-Bibi or settlement speakers. You might have a heated debate. You might bring some anti-Zionist, or pro-Palestine perspectives. But most places you can't afford to throw away the lifeline to your culture.
I have consistently described myself as non-Zionist for about a decade now, but if a random Uber driver asked me if I was a Zionist for no other reason than that I was visible Jewish, my answer wouldn’t be “No,” it would be “BITE ME.”
1/
Welcome back to another episode of: Leftist or Nazi? Today, we have someone defending an Uber driver who refused to drive Jews because, when asked, they said they were Zionist. This tweeter claims that makes them complicit in genocide and legitimate targets for refusing service.
I am NOT in the mood to listen to non-Palestinian, non-Jewish, non-Levantine folks condescending lecture about how it's OK to make McCarthyist lists where folks are accused of "Zionism" for expressing support for anything less than the complete immediate destruction of Israel. 1/
This is Omer Siman-Tov & Omar Bilal al-Banna.
Both were only 4yo when they were killed.
One in Kibbutz Nir Oz on 10/7, the other four days later in Zeitoun.
One by Hamas, the other by the IDF.
Please explain to me how one of these 4yos is innocent while the other is "guilty."
no offense but i just don’t think there’s any “innocent” “israeli” citizen and im tired of tiptoeing around that subject and pretending like there is some mythical exception to whom i owe some reverence or obeisance
It's impossible to talk abt anything happening in Israel bc every time you post abt right-wing violence someone comes in to call EVERY Israeli guilty which escalates to ALL Jews being guilty & from there it devolves into ppl calling for genocide while claiming to be for "peace."
It's always interesting to see which Indigenous group will be discarded by folks to facilitate "sending The Jews to the RIGHT place."
"Jews back to Brooklyn!"
–> That's Lenape land.
"Jews back to Poland!"
–> We were oppressed & slaughtered for centuries for NOT being European.
The longer I study Yiddish, the more I notice the pervasive Hebraisation – itself a product of Zionist hegemony – of British Jewish culture. "Shabbat shalom"? No thanks, it's "gut shabbes" only for me now.
You, a gentile, LARPed as a Jew with a yarmulke you couldn’t even figure out how to secure to your head, on a campus where there HAVEN’T been reports of antisemitic violence in order to…what?
Prove all of those dastardly Jews reporting antisemitism ELSEWHERE are lying?
I’m currently at Princeton wearing my Yarmulke, waiting to be inundated with all the vicious anti-Semitism we’re told has overtaken our once-great Elite American Universities. I’ll let you know if I survive 😭
Judaism is a closed initiatory ethnoreligion. By joining, one becomes part of a people, not just a religious practice. You can't just decide to be Jewish all on your own.
Judaism is also orthopraxic. "Walking in/with faith" is an incredibly Christian concept, not a Jewish one.
A woman in Texas tried to drown a Palestinian child at a pool.
A Jewish family in NYC was physically assaulted at their children’s 5th grade graduation.
Does anyone else have an overwhelming urge to go find a field & scream?
Then perhaps lay face-down in the grass for a while?
If you’re going to make a massive banner in Hebrew, I feel like at least one person involved should actually be able to, you know, READ AND WRITE IN HEBREW?
As soon as people start claiming Jews have a belief system that claims some some sort of supremacy, I know right away that the people making those claims are referring to the concept of “choseness” and project their own sense and definition of choseness onto Jews.
If you need to play the "Jews don't belong in the Levant" card to explain why, for example, West Bank settler terrorism against Palestinians (& state/military/police support of them) is WRONG you're not fighting for justice & equality you're fighting for blood & soil nationalism.
More Jews would join campus protests if the organizations we saw leading them didn’t routinely make posts like this.
Most protesters have good intentions. But when leading organizations praise groups that curse Jews, how can Jewish students, no matter how anti-Israel, feel safe?
No, you do NOT get to interrogate random strangers over the religious & cultural symbols they chose to wear.
This feeds into the same xenophobic/racist/religious bigotry that led countless Muslims (and people falsely assumed to be Muslim) getting the 3rd degree post 9/11.
@chaim89
given how intensely zionist extremists have co-opted judaism in pursuit of hate, you don’t think it’s understandable for people to be cautious or at the very least curious of someone depicting judaic symbolism on their profile where they land on the matter?
These lists become more disturbing when you realize that to the creators, "Zionist" has no concrete meaning.
They're NOT listing ppl supporting the war.
Authors are added for the "crime" of mentioning Israeli relatives or calling for ceasefire but NOT the destruction of Israel.
Making lists with Jewish authors and putting any who refuses to turn their back on their Jewish heritage/connection to the land of Judea or any who acknowledges Israeli humanity into an evil “Zionist” category is progressive antisemitism. Disguising it doesn’t change anything.
The Santa Ana Unified School Dist. is being sued for conspiring "to keep Jewish community members in the dark about ethnic-studies courses on the grounds that, as Jews, they are inherently racist and would disrupt plans to enlighten the student body."
“And so it begins, quietly…”
And so WHAT “begins?”
If you keep kosher & are freaking out over a restaurant being halal, you’re a weirdo & a hypocrite.
You also sound like the fools who think that a kosher supermarket opening in their neighborhood is “proof” of a Jewish Cabal.
"Palestinians' connection to the land is fake! Arabic has no P!"
"Jews' connection to the land is fake! Modern Hebrew isn't even a real language!"
I'm going to hit both of you dumbasses with a SHOE.
"Jews should ethnically cleanse themselves."
And go WHERE?
Over 50% of Israeli Jews are Mizrahim whose families were ethnically cleansed from SWANA. Others came as refugees post-Shoah or from the USSR & others have been there for centuries after returning under Ottoman rule. 1/
Any Israeli with an inkling of a heart and a mind still in them would pack up, and begin the departure process from Palestine.
They should- as fast as possible- disassociate from this criminal regime of madness.
Accountability will come, and the more crimes Israel commits the
“Just re-ethically cleanse Mizrahi Jews from Israel & force them back to the countries that ethnically cleansed them. Simple as that.”
Not only is this absurd on a geopolitical & logistical level, why would Mizrahim willingly RETURN to Diaspora in countries that don’t want them?
1) All Jews are Levantine.
2) Diaspora in Europe doesn't make Ashkenazim ethnically European. Ashkenazi Jews were under constant threat of violence and expulsion for NOT BEING European.
3) Most Israeli Jews are Mizrahi.
4) You can't force SWANA into a Western racial paradigm.
@MercurySchroepp
@ExtremistLs
Ashkenazi refers to European Jews, and Mizrahi refers to Middle Eastern and North African Jews.
Most of Israel is Ashkenazi, not Mizrahi.
@focusfronting
His post gets even more heinous and bizarre when you realize that he’s responding to someone belittling the abuse Jennette McCurdy went through at the hands of her mother and essentially agreeing with their “hating your family is a psy-op” take.
No amount of syncretism involves writing Hebrew BACKWARDS.
If you can’t be bothered to correctly transcribe any of the NUMEROUS images of Seder plates found on Jewish websites, just stick to English.
This isn’t “diaspora syncretism” or a lack or knowledge.
It’s a lack of CARE.
@TaliaRinger
probably, but also diaspora existence is syncretic; people adapt and change traditions and take bits and pieces from the past. that's not anti Jewish or Jewish erasure. it's a longstanding version of what Judaism is.
@ShahdAbusalama
You shouted at random strangers for no other reason than that they were speaking The Bad Jew Language and you’re surprised they responded “coldly?”
Seriously?
If this even happened, which I have some doubt regarding, what do you gain by yelling at random Jews in Spain?
“We just need to do the CORRECT ethnic cleansing guys!”
No.
The Levant is homeland to Palestinians, Jews, Samaritans, Druze, & others.
If your goals are not centered on liberation, justice, equal rights, & coexistence in a shared diverse homeland, you are a pawn of oppressors.
Or people could NOT make McCarthyist lists where people are accused of "Zionism" for "crimes" such as expressing sympathy on 10/7, having visited a relative in Israel (where half of the world's Jewish population lives) as a teenager, or having their book translated into Hebrew.
That’s entirely false.
The Nazis didn’t target Jews based on religion.
Atheist Jews and Jews who had converted to Christianity were not safe.
Nazis viewed Jews as an inferior “race” and the Shoah was a racialized ethnic-based genocide.
1. A two-state-solution with a free autonomous Palestinian state alongside Israel.
2. A coalition along the lines of A Land For Alls proposal ()
3. A secular binational state in what is now Israel, Gaza, & WB that ensures equal rights for all citizens.
Who the fuck is “we?”
What sort of disconnected hyper-assimilated bubble do you live in where Ashkenazim don’t “directly deal with any antisemitism in America?”
Maybe YOU “pass.”
But your experience is not even CLOSE to universal.
An example of this phenomenon: People took “Judaism doesn’t have a conceptualization of Hell in the way that Christianity does” & blew it out to “Judaism has no beliefs on the afterlife at all” often bc THEY struggle to conceptualize an afterlife belief without eternal damnation.
The internet has convinced too many people that Judaism doesn't actually have any theological beliefs/assertions and that having politically liberal beliefs is the same thing as having Jewish values.
I honestly struggle to comprehend how, in their zeal to blame everything on Israel, these folks manage to minimize, of all things, THE HOLOCAUST.
But they truly act like the murder of six million Jews & the destruction of Jewish communities across Europe & SWANA is irrelevant—
Jewish assimilation, by force or willingly, had been going on for centuries - if not millennia - prior to 1948. It was not the beginning of the end of Jewish identity or religion.
If you're going to use her story to engagement farm, start by saying her name: Theresa Kachindamoto.
As of 2022, she has rescued over 3,500 child brides, was instrumental in Malawi’s passage of a bill to raise the marriage age to 18, and advocates for girls to be fully educated.
Antisemitism does not, and never has, meant "hatred and prejudice towards all Semitic peoples."
It was coined in 1879 by Wilhelm Marr to replace 'Judenhaas' as a more "scientific" sounding term for the hatred of Jews as a racialized group.
@ChaysarTheGreat
@TheSportProhet
arab people can be antisemitic just as gay people can be homophobic
antisemitism refers to hatred and prejudice towards all semitic peoples, including arabs. don't embarrass yourself and read the word out loud first
Has anyone else noticed an uptick in the prevalence of "Jewish" accts that are CLEARLY being run by either trolls or straight-up Neo-Nazis just saying the most absurdly offensive things w/concerning numbers of ppl treating them as genuine representations of the Jewish community?
The "send all the Jews the ass-end of Russia" people and the "send all the Palestinians to the Sinai Peninsula" people should just make out already.
At least that would occupy their mouths so they would finally shut up.
I'm sorry but WHAT THE FUCK?
In what universe is it "feminist" or "badass" to steal a BILLION DOLLARS in aid money meant for Palestinians, including women & children, all for the purpose of launching a massacre that you KNOW will lead to a devastating war & thousands of deaths?
Even if your INTENT isn't antisemitic, if your IMPACT is getting Jews who so much as raise an eyebrow at your methods of platforming Holocaust deniers for "debate" swarmed by aggressive antisemites, then your IMPACT is antisemitic.
That may be something worth considering.
What really gets me is seeing ppl in Canada/US/Britain/etc ascribing collective guilt to Israelis (or Palestinians) in a manner they would NEVER view themselves in regarding their own country’s crimes.
They see themselves as individuals, but don’t extend that courtesy to others.
Same exact logic as the nonsense "there are no innocents in Gaza." Just routine dehumanization and genocidal logic. The power dynamic matters but this line of thinking is always dehumanizing and genocidal whether or not acting out your fantasies is possible
You don't get a free pass from being called out on antisemitism just because you label your horrifically racist antisemitic caricature as "anti-Zionist."
Especially not when it's accompanied by a diatribe about (((Zionists))) controlling & depopulating the world.
The painting:
@AlexRyvchin
There is nothing racist nor antisemitic in this painting… it talks About Zionists.
Agree it is edgy … but Zionism is not a race… Zionism is not Semitic
The "funny cosplay" in question is a white man dressing up as an explicitly racist & antisemitic caricature that looks like it was taken straight from the pages of Nazi propaganda.
I don't know about you, but that's not any kind of cosplay I'm familiar with, & I'm not laughing.
"______ are being expelled from nearly every country they have immigrated to due to their unacceptable behavior, and still continue to play the victim card. There is only one common denominator for what’s happening."
Now where have I heard THAT rhetoric before...
Syrians are being expelled from nearly every country they have immigrated to due to their unacceptable behavior, and still continue to play the victim card. There is only one common denominator for what’s happening.
You're using transliterations.
The Hindi word for tea, 'chai' (चाय) comes from the Chinese word for tea, 'cha' (茶).
The Hebrew word 'chai' (חי), means 'life.'
The Hebrew word for 'tea' is 'teh' (תה).
The word חי is not pronounced like चाय.
The "ch" in חי is a guttural 'h'.
I guess he didn't want to answer.
But in his method of not answering he demonstrated my point about how in practice, non-Zionist & anti-Zionist Jews are pushed out of "just anti-Zionist not antisemitic" so-called progressive spaces if we are anything other than obliging lapdogs.
1) Nationality =/= ethnicity.
2) Diaspora does not erase identity. Regardless of where we live, Jews are part of a Levantine ethnic group.
3) The countries we have lived in in Diaspora have routinely & repeatedly attempted to expel &/or kill us for NOT sharing their ethnicity.
So apparently, the "Hawk Tuah" girl took one of those spit-in-a-tube ancestry tests & it came back >97% Ashkenazi Jewish (which she doesn't appear to have been aware of before) & now we've got tweets with >150,000 likes claiming she's an Inisidious IDF Psy-Op.
So that's fun.
I refuse to play this game for several reasons:
First, although there are more Christian Zionists in the US than there are Jews of any stance in the WORLD ppl like the Uber driver will NEVER ask tht question of someone w/a cross necklace.
The game is inherently antisemitic.

"It's actually completely feasible to separate Jewish life from Hillel."
So...what? You'll set up small groups with no funds or funding, no pre-existing community ties, no existing services, and where you can purity-test every Jew who walks through the door?
It's actually completely feasible to separate Jewish life from Hillel. Plenty of schools have independent Jewish student life orgs in addition to or, like at my alma mater, instead of Hillel. It's not antisemitic to ask other schools to follow suit. We SHOULD do so.
Hostages Families were sent threats that if they spoke out against Netanyahu their families would be put to the bottom of the list in term of releases.
Israelites WERE Canaanites.
Both Jews & Palestinians can trace our origin back to Canaanites who were actually several ethnic groups.
Y’all have GOT to stop treating religious origin myth as fact when it suits you & framing Israel/Palestine as analogous to European colonialism.
"Maybe once you admit..."
Truly WILD to accuse a queer disabled Jew of erasing gentile victims when every Jewish-run Holocaust museum explicitly honors ALL victims of Nazis.
But yt gentile queers need to understand tht genocide was the Nazi goal for two groups: Jews & Roma.
1/
@TEStoneWrites
Maybe once you admit including non-Jews in the discussion doesn’t exclude Jews, and that I was responding to and agreeing with a post that says Naziism didn’t exist in a void—that history shows many people supported their bigotry and it’s dangerous to ignore that.
I’ve identified myself as a non-Zionist for the better part of a decade. Anyone who knows me IRL or follows me on here knows that I want a future of liberation, justice & equality for Jews and Palestinians in our shared homeland.
This still terrifies me as a visibly Jewish man.
When a student organizer at Columbia proudly declares on the internet that we should be grateful that they're “not just going out and murdering Zionists,” listen to Jewish students when we tell you we’re terrified.
This.
Netanyahu is a fascistic genocidal warmonger.
He is NOT a Nazi.
That word has an actual meaning and history.
There is no need to minimize the Holocaust to call out the horrors being presided over by Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, Smotrich, and their supporters.
Netanyahu isn't a Nazi. That makes no sense. If you HAVE to compare him to someone, he's more like Slobodan Milošević, though I doubt anyone under 40 even knows who that is without looking it up; but calling Bibi a Nazi is just proof of how disingenuous and unserious you are.
1) You're confusing origin myth with history. Israelite society, and thus Jews, emerged FROM Canaanite society.
2) Even in Exodus, if you could be bothered to do more than watch TikToks from people who ALSO haven't read it, narrates Jews first going TO Egypt FROM Canaan.
1/
Ah yes, “Collective punishment and ethnic cleansing are Good Actually when they’re agaisnt the (((people I don’t like))).”
No to ANY ethnic cleansing.
No to bloodthirsty rubberneckers who don’t care fuck all for creating an actual just & equal future.
No one is going anywhere.
Sephardic Jews literally did EXACTLY this when they were expelled from Spain.
And going back to the beginning of the Jewish Diaspora, our people never "moved on" from our desire to return home to Eretz Yisrael, why would we expect it of others?
This exactly.
Hell, the greatest compassion I received post 10/7 was FROM Palestinian friends.
The worst antisemitism we are seeing infiltrate ceasefire protests is NOT coming from Palestinians.
The ppl who need to take out their trash are (predominantly white) Westerners.
@ArchaeoBenjamin
There are a lot of things I don’t expect from people just trying to survive unimaginable violence and trauma. But I do expect those things from white dudes tweeting from Ohio.
I'm sorry but WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?
"Yes, we are visually marking students and setting up checkpoints to restrict movement by those deemed Undesirable."
Does no one in leadership of this protest have even the smallest conceptualization of either intent-focused action or OPTICS?
Wristbands are being used to identify anti-Israel students at
@UCLA
so that they are allowed to enter Royce Quad, Royce Hall, and Powell Library.
Some students are allowed in and out, others are kept out. This is ILLEGAL and UCLA is not just tolerating it but facilitating it.
Shame on The Guardian for this headline.
The words "13-year-old" and "sex work" should never appear in the same sentence.
The word you are looking for is 'sex trafficking' and 'sexual slavery.'
They are not "workers."
They are children.
They are victims.
If your Jewish experience has been one where white gentiles have NOT consistently treated you as Other, that's fantastic.
But that experience cannot be projected to all Jews w/lighter skin.
Many of us are no strangers to being unwelcome. It is, as you say, NOT a new experience.
Have some awareness that for lots of people, this is not a new experience. And as
@LeoFergusonnyc
said recently about white Jews newly finding certain spaces uncomfortable/less welcoming: “Welcome to the party. You could have a lot of allies here.”
5/6
@Maarva_Andor
The argument Graham is trying to make completely undermines transphobes’ favorite talking point: The claim that trans women have extreme “biological advantage” in sports even after HRT.
Either testosterone gives Super Sports Power OR it leads to needing mobility aids.
Not both.
Every year on Yom HaShoah, thousands of gentiles who ignored International Holocaust Remebrabce Day on January 27th, and who don’t even know what August 2nd or the Porajmos is, take to Twitter to accuse Jews of “hogging” the Holocaust.
You’re not subtle.
We see you.
There are so many horrifying photos and videos coming out of Gaza. There is more than enough evidence to make the righteousness of demanding a ceasefire abundantly clear.
So what do people gain by trying to pass off photos from Syria or AI-generated crap as images from Gaza?
Yes.
Jews, Palestinians, Samaritans, Druze, & other ethnic groups have shared roots & long histories in the same land.
You can white-girl-emoji-facepalm, but it won't change the fact that real liberation, justice, & peace will not come from ethnically cleansing ANYONE.
@QueenMab87
The number of replies and QRTs on that post saying Jews are indigenous to Brooklyn is just…Do the Lenape people just not exist to these folks?
Or do they apply their ridiculous belief that forced displacement and diaspora erases a people’s historic roots to them too?
This is the level of "discourse" a good 80% of people I see talking about Israel and Palestine on this site are at.
No concern for actual people.
No ideas about the future.
Definitely no historical literacy.
Just endless garbage about who has a "right" to eat fucking hummus.
@QueenMab87
These lists are (as far as I have seen) made by people with no personal connection to the Levant or stake in the conflict for whom the sum total of their activism amounts to resurrecting McCarthyism and trying to shun people who they decide have fallen short of their "standards."
