Do you know why as a nation Uganda performs very well in security? We even export security as a service to regional markets. And the reason is that the head of the security of our nation is an expert in security. Subject knowledge enables leadership excellence. Accountability is only possible when the leader of an institution is adequately knowledgeable in the subject knowledge. That’s how corruption will end.

@egaruedmond @RuzindanaA @EriasLukwago_ @KCCAED Okay, I’ve seen you. But you’ve said nothing in particular. There is no argument in what you’ve posted here.

@BaketungaNaome @DBanyambo @EriasLukwago_ @KCCAED Cease fire, my deskmate. The bulk of Ugandans are very uneducated. The bulk of your politicians lack basic formal education. But I see your anger. It’s because you appreciate the importance of education. The bulk of our society doesn’t.

@Albat80 @EriasLukwago_ @KCCAED Let’s follow the money. If most of it goes to trade, then we have a trade expert as the ED.

@edhiruma3 @RuzindanaA @EriasLukwago_ @KCCAED I think medicine is not within the domain of KCCA beyond its function of providing and maintaining public health infrastructure. Public health infrastructure is established and maintained by engineers.

@jnkomaho We seem to have no empowered structures to solve our public infrastructure problems.

@GoodlyMonteiro @EriasLukwago_ @KCCAED @Makerere @ProfNawangwe I think, you’re misrepresenting the problem and casting yourself as a symptom of the misfortunes we have in our society. KCCA’s problems are of civic nature and have no connection with education curricula. The graduates of Makerere are fine.

We can’t blame education. The purpose of education is to give knowledge. The philosopher, Aristotle, advised that “what we don’t know, we must learn by doing”. And “doing” is in the space of industry and commerce. Once the national economy is not healthy, the educated will lack industry skills. So, in the end, the knowledge they’ll have acquired from education establishment will lack relevance.

@RomanRoy25 @EriasLukwago_ @KCCAED Correct, and this frustrates their subordinates as they attempt to find good solutions for our problems in the city

But @SenSanders, why do you think we are poor and hungry? We who own minerals that your nations need for their industries, and land that is fertile and virgin? Give us a chance to learn to fish for ourselves.

@DeeSandy20 These are challenges of low civilization. They will diminish over time as education and urbanization increase. We need to be understanding, especially considering that many Ugandans, including our big politicians, are the first in their lines of ancestry to own permanent homes

Why earthquakes collapse buildings ************************************* The law of inertia, also known as Newton’s first law of motion, is relatable in many aspects of life. If you ever tried skating, it’s the law you have to obey to be able to put both your legs on that board and move without falling apart. It’s also the law that explains the importance of seat belts in our cars. Apparently, in building construction, it’s the dominant law when a building is enduring an earthquake. You see, all buildings are planted in the ground, and when a hazard of an earthquake happens, the ground is shaken in horizontal directions. Certainly, the part of the building that is fixed into the ground moves with it. And, as it is with the skating board, the upper part of the building will be safe to the extent that it catches up in motion with the part that is fixed in the ground. The dilemma with buildings is that they don’t have the flexibility that living thinking beings bring to skating. The earthquake comes to buildings as a surprise and the law of inertia acts on them the way it acted on you the first time you tried skating.

The absence of industrial professional support in rural infrastructure design and development was discussed. Rural productivity drives Uganda's economic development.
