We have a new officer on the street today! Canine Jordi and his handler Officer Baker just completed their certification and are ready to begin their shift. Jordi will join Rocky and Zeus as part of the Directed Patrol Unit.

We would like to unveil our newest addition. This 2019 Ford Mustang was 100% funded by the Governors Highway Safety Program grant. The vehicle is assigned to our Traffic Safety Unit.

Michael Schlick was a hero in disguise today. He was the first person to stop at a very bad car accident and provide aid to the victims. He provided first aid and comfort to two people in need. He received a Chief’s Coin for all he did to assist the victims.

At approximately 4:40am, Mr. Joshua McMillan saw flames coming from a residence at 118 Harbor Haven Drive he ran across the street and pounded on the door to wake the residents. He received a Chief’s Coin from Officer McKee for his quick thinking, heroic actions.

“Officer” Gavin was given a Chiefs coin this morning. While on patrol in his neighborhood, he noticed one of his neighbors car doors was slightly ajar. Using his Police senses, he knew he had to alert the homeowner. This alerted us to car break-ins in the area.

Today we honored Ret. Lieutenant Wayne English who even though retired in 2017 but continues to serve the citizens of Apex as a part time officer. He was 33 total years in law enforcement. Congrats Wayne!!!
