Honestly an ideal "gen 3" Paper Mario would incorporate a lot of the ridiculous non-sequiturs we got out of the papercraft games alongside the narrative and character focus. Usually where the humor in those games shines the most.

Cheat codes and RAM manipulation (usually through emulators) let people edit the timer values of variables to whatever number they want, so they can jump ahead to numbers they suspect might break the game without having to wait or perform an action and absurd number of times

I personally prefer his 3 houses characterization but his 3 Hopes version is a fun contrast to most FE lords, who tend to be idealistic and strength-oriented over wisdom

I think it's a demographic thing. Lot of Nintendo generalists/enthusiasts skew harder to adult males who tend to be dismissive of cutesy games that are (generally) made for younger audiences. It doesn't appeal to their masculinity so they turn their nose at it as "beneath them"

I feel like anything past TOK is probably going to be a hybrid of old and new, if I were to guess. Combat system reminiscent of the older games and possibly a more involved plot but new-school aesthetics and papercraft focus.

Very much feels like the story came from the writers' own feelings about the creative struggle and Yoosk feels a lot more alive for it, whereas the Madarame arc succeeds a bit too well at the negative first impression to the point it's a bit alienating until his Awakening

what makes Nintendo so interesting is that they are simultaneously tapped into culture but also not tapped into culture at all. most companies would be so aware of Big Yoshi as to put extra work into the new model and try to play off memes etc in marketing. here he simply exists
