Supply chain attacks lurking in so many places all the time. Even some big tech aren't willing to put in the effort of properly enforcing dependency code reviews. Whac-a-dep should be a weekly game any dev team must plays.
Dependency minimalism (writing software that deliberately tries to have as few dependencies as practical) is a really underrated virtue imo. Every single dependency is a risk that "something will go wrong" during someone's installation process. Installing projects with hundreds of dependencies and walking through errors can be incredibly frustrating.

A 4090 has a SHA1 hashrate of 50638.7 MH/s as per hashcat benchmarks, compared to the 22757.6 MH/s of a 3090, it basically means a SHA1 collision is nowadays only taking 26.3 GPU months (as per the "SHA1 is a Shambles" estimates, let me know if I missed a paper since then) 🤯
