Woot woot. Within the seascape, cenotes, blue holes, sinkholes = amazing factories for transforming and storing carbon. Conservation of these systems important for: culture, freshwater, biodiversity, and climate response, understanding past climate.
Dr. Annie Tamalavage, a fellow in our @SImarineconserv lab, is working with a Mexican team led by Dra. Flor Arcega-Cabrera. They're helping nail down how much carbon the nation's cenotes can store, so México may be able to include them in its carbon budgets. 📸 Annie Tamalavage

Thrilled to be part of this #ArcGIS #StoryMap on #BlueCarbon, and bring some sinkhole work to the table. It is a joy to work with @SImarineconserv and our global partners. Y, nuestros mapas también están en español. La foto principal es un cenote :)
Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing #ArcGIS #StoryMaps that focus on our collaborative ongoing science & amazing partners Our 1st map, #BlueCarbon, includes projects in the #GlobalSouth

As ALL FOUR OF us are still considered #EarlyCareer (student or <10 yrs post terminal degree in @theAGU's eyes), what is this? 😂 I guess we're just 3 too many... @DeltaDeuterium

Phew, got in right under the deadline to schedule our #HoloceneSeds session for #AGU24. We had over 55! amazing abstracts to schedule, across 2 oral and 2 poster sessions... It's a lot of work to do this thoughtfully...

Plz consider submitting to Holocene Seds at #AGU24 (PP030).. yr 3! We've updated the story map with 2023's contributions. We've built this session to learn about interesting environmental change over the last ~11.7ka, and network amongst other mud lovers. 1/4

Félicitations, @pouille_sophie !! Bravo on some very nice work that connects climate change (glacial retreat to expose more seds) > dust moving and depositing > biogeochemical impacts on regional ecosystems! Was fun to collab on this!

Super duper lucky to work with such a great team at @CampusUNAMYuc and @SImarineconserv.
Postdoc Annie Tamalavage is in Mexico this week to start her new project on cenotes. Cenotes (sinkholes) are important for culture, biodiversity, freshwater, and - of course - carbon. 📸 Cenote Xbatun by Collaborator Dr. Efrain Chavez Solis 1/3
