Early Boarding Tips at Amtrak 🚂 How to Skip the Line at Amtrak? Did you know about the Red Cap Service from Union Station, Washington, DC, to Moynihan Train Hall, New York? Instead of rushing to board, head to the Red Cap Service. An attendant will escort you to the train 10 minutes before the other passengers. Just remember to tip for the service. You’ll definitely want to use the Red Cap Service on your trip from New York back to DC to avoid the mad rush. As you can see, I even had time to ask the porter to film a video of me. There isn’t a bad seat in the house, but I couldn’t resist settling into one of the small, cozy booths—the perfect spot. With only five of these tables available, be sure to arrive early or request one in advance. Add this to your must-visit list.
