This scene is absolutely perfect! Because of the way Ash and Serena parted it would’ve been hard to write her return without there being a slight awkwardness, but because Ash had to leave in a rush there wasn’t time for that and their raw emotions just came pouring out!

It’s a very small detail but I really appreciate things like this. At the start of the movie Ash quite rudely hangs up on his mother, but after the plot of the movie has played out which heavily focuses on the importance of family, he decides to give his mother a call 🥰

This episode was very emotional, but I was really glad to see that they kept Ash’s farewell with Kukui and Burnet seperate rather than being crammed in with all the others. After all, he lived with these two for quite a long time, and this was a beautiful way to end it

Ash’s Pokémon are getting treated so well these days. All the members of his team during Sun & Moon had their own unique personalities, and so far both Dragonite and Gengar seem full of character too. It makes these Pokémon very memorable compared to many of the others
