When I started drinking in pubs they had last orders at 10pm. Everybody out by 10.30pm. They didn't have all day drinking either. Surely there is enough time for everybody who wants to get pissed to do so? Am I missing something here?

Think the issue is that people live a lifestyle to match their income. They have fixed outgoings, mortgages, car leases etc that can’t be cut back on overnight when very unexpected, totally OTT utility increases occur

Did engineering apprenticeship in 70's. I knew at 16yrs what lazy prats the shop stewards were. There were two unions we could join. I told the steward from each that I belonged to the other & they never found out in four years 😂

Yes. The weather isn’t helping. If you’re able to walk out between showers & admire the Spring flowers/visit a cafe/go on a bus etc there are opportunities to see beauty, chat with someone who may feel the same & distract you from the unremitting bad ‘news’. I find it helps 🌹🌻
