(1 /5) Time for a vent session of yet another racist encounter in Montana:
I'm returning to my vehicle from grabbing an energy drink at a gas station. Some older gentlemen pumping gas next to me says "I think you missed your exit. Missoula is almost 7 hours away." I responded...
(5/5) ... It's life experiences like these that have shaped me to become the ambitious person that I've always sought out to be: one who can overcome such hatred, use it as motivation, and prove people wrong in their assumptions about me.
Rant over
We were treated with some Kelvin-Helmholtz waves up here in Big Sky country before the cold front moves through later this morning. This is the first time I have seen them this clear.

Sorry my family and I are living the American dream...
Decided to focus on doing a time-lapse of the

this evening. Perfect practice as they generally remained closer to the horizon this time around. Taken 30N of Glasgow, MT.

Happy Pride Month to those who celebrate! We, as a society, set aside certain periods throughout the year in which we recognize the struggles of those who have been oppressed. That's it. To move ahead as a more just society, recognition of that struggle is the first step. 🏳️🌈
Let us Reflect, Empower and Unite together this

Month as we celebrate the diversity of the NWS family! Their skills and perspectives allow us to meet our mission of protecting a diverse nation.
(3/5) ... I responded, that I work at the weather service in town and that I am happily serving the people of NE MT in supporting the NWS mission. I don't think he liked that answer. He asked where I was from. I said Houston. He then followed up by asking if I was born in Houston
(2 /5) ... "Actually, sir, I live in Glasgow. Why would you assume that I would live elsewhere?" There's was a long pause, and asked, "What brings your kind up here?" I smart-ass-ly responded, "Well 1) I don't see why it's your business to know, 2) you could ask that better...
A good brain break activity: chasing auroras. This one lit up EVERYTHING green and bright so much so that I was finally able to take a time-lapse of them. I coulda done without the howling wind though. A night I will never forget.

The sharpest color gradient I've seen in a rainbow here at the office. I'm on leave through mid-July road tripping across the West. Please respect one another while I'm away!

Well, I had quite the night. Tonight I issued my first Tornado Warning and boy, was the tornado (landspout, whatever

wants to call it) a beauty.

Masters in Hydrology in the bag. It was a crazy two years, but I am beyond glad to be finished and ready to spend more time camping and exploring Montana on my days off.
Ph.D? Nah, not my thing. Maybe in the next life!

It was a stressful day, even to the very moment of setting up for this picture. But at least I was able to catch the aurora before the clouds rolled in.

Who knew I'd help out with my first damage survey in the first month in Glasgow. We found the Glentana tornado to be an EF-2.

Today, I celebrate my 1 year anniversary at the NWS and at GGW. I have learned a lot since then. 16 SVRs and 1 TOR issued. I still have a lot to learn, but I have no worries as the team here at GGW has some of the greatest minds among it. Here's to many more years to come!

Yall, my heart was racing like no other today. When duty calls though, you must do the job. Thanks

The coldest launch I've done thus far (-23°F ambient/-48°F wind chill). In 2022, the hottest launch I did was 106°F, making the spread of temperatures I launched in at 129°F.
I need a quick vent session:
Upon arriving at the border crossing today, I handed the Border Patrol agent my passport. I answered his questions. He then says, "Enrique... when was the last time you visited Canada?" I quickly corrected him and said my name is Angel.

A reflection of my 2022: This year will go down as the most memorable one thus far in my first 2 decades of life. I took a big leap and left my first job post-college for my dream job. I moved from Oklahoma to Montana. I traded tornadoes for mountains and snow... 1/3
On my brain break today in between issuing warnings (Take them! They're important), I set my phone outside to capture the storm that passed through
@NWSGlasgow
. On the horizon, you can probably see the storms that would eventually produce a 🌪 in Saskatchewan.

In lieu of

Being called into severe wx ops and having this be your drive into work is worth it sometimes. NE MT ceases to amaze me. This would eventually become the storm that later produced reported funnels and tornadoes north of town.

Even though the moon was shining brightly, I had to take advantage of a cloudless night. Who knew Glasgow's airspace was so busy at 3am. Taken 4/21/24

Thanks to everyone who congratulated me on finally getting my Masters. I finally had the chance to meet some of my cohort for the first time. My family also finally (after 5 yrs) got to see the beauty of Oklahoma. I had my traditional F5 IPA during the tornadoes last week. (1/2)
After a long 7 months, I'm back to my 2nd home (layover on my way to RAC). The Front Range looks great like always. I even passed by alma mater on the descent!

What's the most spontaneous trip you've ever done? I'll start... I drove 10 hrs from Glasgow, MT to Greeley, CO to be at the Buc-ee's grand opening in Johnstown this Monday. Now it'll be a day drive rather than a few flights. Great to be back in my alma mater's town!

Can't for ask for a better end to winter than going to the opening of Buc-ee's in Colorado. Arguably, it's the most scenic Buc-ee's. So awesome to share it with all the Buc-ee's enthusiasts that also cane from out of state.

Made a trip to Fort Peck Lake after work last night to get more aurora pics, but found that the fuzzy green band was it for the night. Then the moon rose and made it look like the pot at the end of the aurora band. 🤩

Went out staking my spot tonight for the show tomorrow (fingers crossed). Found a great spot overlooking the towns of Fort Peck and Park Grove from the Spillway. If this is the precursor show I got rn, I can't wait for the big event.

It's very disheartening the backlash a fellow Houston MET is having for interrupting their broadcast to disseminate a tornado warning happening within the metro. Maybe we need to bring the fellow Texans and Okies down to HTX for a serious talk about this importance of it.
Happy Independence Day, US! I spent another day in Waterton and got to celebrate both in Canada and in the US where a boat tour dropped us off on US soil. This an international peace park, meaning no passport required (so long as I didn't stay beyond 30 min). Best 4th ever!
