@NikiasMolina
@tim_cook
Well done. I'm 60 now, so this feature is something that will give me a bit more confidence that I can spot a problem before it gets really serious. Amazing tech that we take for granted.
@TheGalox_
A few points:
It is early days.
Secondly, under 10% of iPhone users have iPhones compatible with it, so it was always going to be a slow start. In 10 years all phones will support AAA games so I suspect the sales would increase tenfold.
@milominder
Judging the Labour gov after a few days is ridiculous. Come back in 4 years & we can have a sensible conversation. They've made a few political decisions, but at the end of the day, they will be judged on economics, not soundbites. I don't support any party & hope they do well.
@android_fhd
Most people clean their phones regular so this is nonsense really. Obviously if you just buy it & never clean it it will look awful after a little while. But most of us, over 80% will use a case anyway so it is moot. My S23U screen looks disgusting after a day, so I clean it!
@sondesix
I think people are assuming that all the Galaxy AI is solely Samsung when in fact it is majority Google AI. Samsung has marketed it to their benefit & fans will fall for it. I'm assuming Google will be popularizing AI with every OS update & that is why Samsung will use Google AI.
@LeakerApple
@iPhonedo
That cannot be right. I thought it was the end of Apple and that Apple had failed and Apple couldn't' do anything and Apple was useless. It can't be a meta app that sucks again?
@MyDaebakCafe
I agree it was a blatant rip-off and Samsung does not get enough critique for their reliance on copying Apple. Their whole smartphone business was proven in court to be a copy of the iPhone.
@durreadan01
@jon_prosser
Whatever Apple does critics will complain and whine and say they’re doing it wrong. Because Apple doesn’t pay influencers, it means that they are all too willing to play the algorithms to get clicks. Apple is trying to offer something new and they still get people moaning.
@TheGalox_
As always, if 60 Hertz bothers you then don't buy it. People that would never buy it always complaining about 60 hertz makes me think they're just flexing.
@Chaitanya7483
Why do you care? If it is important to you, you won't buy an iPhone base model. Alternatives include an Android device with 120 hertz or the Pro models. No one is forcing you to buy the base iPhone, so I say again, why does it matter to you?
@sondesix
Does the Pixel come with iOS, if it does then the Pixel. Otherwise easy iPhone win for me as I am enjoying the Apple ecosystem. That is the de facto reaso for buying the iPhone now, so these comparisons are moot. My Android phones include Pixel 6P and it is a v.good phone.
@jmwilt21
It is super apparent why, as the iPhone 14Pros are the only ones with a 1hz display and the AOD hardware to avoid burn-in. It is the same reason the iPhone 13 and older do not have AOD.
@thetech_wiz
I hate using meta apps on iOS as they are battery killers & very inefficient. I deleted my Instagram app and I close Facebook every time I finish using it. Instagram can burn 20% of an iPhone 15PM battery in an hour. I am sure it is done intentionally as on Android uses 12%.
@android_fhd
I've used Android for over 10 years and never once thought that a pause button on video recording was needed. This may be a thing for some but I'm not really sure it's a major feature. I just press stop and when I need to restart I press start. Works well as it splits videos up.
@zacbowden
Having used Bing, I can double down on that and say there is no way I would ever have that as default.
Those commenting that Google won’t pay Apple anymore, obviously miss the statement by Google that they will appeal and believe they will win. So unlikely to be sorted soon.
@immaSidd
Mine has been great. Lots of Android users claim this and repost the odd issue, to make it seem worse. All my family are on it and no problems apart from slightly less battery life.
@IntoGalaxyy
Sometimes you can only find these weird and wonderful bugs when you release the software to the public. I doubt many people tested the beta on old iPads. For those that don't know this is how you develop software. Bugs are numerous and when reported will be investigated & fixed.
@Tech_Reve
So the Tweeters that claimed they were experts, and said that it was impossible for Apple to fix this overheating as it was a design flaw (chip, titanium and A17Pro), were as expected just flexing, more like Android fans wishing and hoping?
@jmwilt21
It is the main issue in the US where people buy a product just to have fun with it or do some videos or social media and then return it with no intention of ever buying it to keep. It must be a nuisance for OEMs with this practice.
@edwinxsilva
Excuse my ignorance but why would you need that bearing in mind that you have apps for texting? It's probably a simple reason but I can't think of it for the moment. I'm in the UK and haven't texted on the dialer for a long long time.
@BrandonButch
They haven't fixed screen burn on because it wasn't screen burn in. It was retention. It's nearly impossible to get screen burn in after a few weeks.
@TheGalox_
That is untrue. On CPU the iPhone is clearly two generations ahead which should close to one with the s24u. For the 20% that use maxed out GPU for gaming then they are relatively close based on frames per second in testing. But that will change with metal FX soon enough.
@TheGalox_
That is such a terrible take. Intel promised Apple they would have chips that could run in these new thinner designs but failed. We all know this is true, so why the fake news? It cost Intel tens of billions when Apple ditched them, showing Intel how to do it with the M-chips
@a_saeed58
@theapplehub
No Android phone using Qualcomm has the hardware for satellite link so I'm not sure what phone you are talking about. The SD8G3 will not be getting the hardware so it won't be coming in 2024. That is sad for Android. Although we will rarely use this feature, it can be a lifesaver
@AbhishekMarkets
I'm not sure that's a sensible lawsuit; should we blame knife makers for people killing people with a knife? People do bad things and we take action against the people rather than looking to blame someone else to make money. Legally, I am not sure if Apple is liable.
@MaazMz
Even when new, my S24U was well behind this. Now, it is hours behind. It makes you wonder how real these tests are, especially after watching the Tech Chap, where the iPhone beat the S24U by 2h15m and that S24U was much closer to my real-life usage.
@RjeyTech
That extra 250 nits is a battery killer as we have seen with iPhone battery complaints. I suspect Samsung decided that battery life is more important bearing in mind the disappointment of the s22u battery life. Sensible otherwise reviews may be negative.
@jmwilt21
The three reasons I use the Pixel are: dictation, Recorder and typing. These are so superior to any Android phone that if you do any of these regularly you should get a Pixel. Saves me time and frustration. The S23U sucks at dictation and auto-correct, and is years behind in AI.
@WilliamFaix
All these tech Twitter users don't realize that the majority of people probably only use up to 50% of their battery a day as they are not on it constantly. Therefore, even iPhones charge 50% in 30 minutes. We can also top up during the day in our car, office, home or MagSafe.
@LeakerApple
Not only that, it allows for Magsafe to work without impinging on any of the lenses. I assume that is why? Samsung didn't put Qi2 charging on the S24 Ultra due to the camera mount.
@thewriteguy
No way this interview has made any difference. Conservatives have zero chance of winning. Whatever he says or does will make no difference to the final result as people just want a change.
@TailosiveTech
Daylight photos for even $200 phones have been great for a few years now. The true tests are in difficult shooting conditions that is where the latest cameras and software can improve on.
@lafaiel
I can understand why Intel and Microsoft are forcing OEMs to comply with certain standards including soldered RAM. I suspect they are fed up with OEMs putting inferior parts in their products as this can reflect badly on Intel. So forcing soldered RAM near the chip is essential.
@IntoGalaxyy
no idea why you would want to do this and I suspect there will be about one man and his dog interested in that sort of AI edit. but I suppose if it’s important to you then Godspeed.
@sondesix
@phonebuff
He stated that he tested multiple times & these were the best from each. So I feel that there is no margin of error here and that these reflect well. But 4 seconds is not going to change anyone's mind about buying one or the other. Both are super fast with great RAM management.
@UniverseIce
Clearly, the Oppo has many more attractive point and shoot photos at night. The iPhone is flat with highlights plain rather than warm on OPPO. Best for sharing Oppo, and iPhone will need some post-production to make them more flattering.
@sakitechonline
It's 5X optical zoom but 10X lossless digital zoom as it will crop in similar to how the primary does 2X lossless zoom. No one else is doing optical 10X zoom due to no one being able to turn it into a decent low light zoom. All OEMs have moved away from 10X as Samsung will.
@UniverseIce
Clearly two problems here. The first one is that S24 ultra is the only android with 12 GB of RAM but probably the most expensive of them and secondly it was beaten by an iPhone with less RAM. So clearly optimisation and cheaping out on RAM meant Samsung got a good beating.
@jmwilt21
At the end of the day the truth will be based on actual real statistics eg numbers sold. Not looking at a few tweets from people that probably never buy an iPhone. Watching a few videos & the overall consensus is in a mature market the iPhones this year are better than iterative.
@TechTabletscom
I don't get the hype either, & assume that the YouTube collective has an agenda for the nothing phone. To me it is a gimmick, & those that like it will buy it. But 99.9% of us will not. It will make a small splash even with the praise from the influencers. Solid but nothing more.
@Cartidise
Yes, for the the non-techies sideloading can lead to disaster and I have family that have suffered from this. I genuinely believe sideloading should be banned and everything should be through accountable app stores. It is great to see Google having security features that help.
@MishaalRahman
I would imagine that Google if forced to do this would stop updating Android for other OEMs & simply concentrate on the Pixel devices and therefore keep Chrome in ownership along with Pixel running their own Android. This will force other OEMs to make their own version of Android
@lafaiel
Yes, Apple saying their RAM equates to greater usage than Windows or Android is 100% true. In this case 8GB equals 13GB on Android. Apple haters will never understand the beauty of Apple optimisations but the truth is out there.
@negativeonehero
Apple has gradually moved to 6GB modules as with the M3 Pro and Max and I expected the M3 base to do the same but they appear to be saving it for the M4. So I expect the new minimum RAM config will be 12GB in the MacBook Air M4. So these are a harbinger for what is coming.
@JaayOnPC
@MKBHD
Sadly you miss the point, if you do not use the power, and many of us will not, instead we get far better efficiency allowing the iPhones to remain the best at battery life. Of course, that power also fuels the cameras, so that is. Misnomer that the power is not unleashed.
@Tech_Reve
I was expecting better due to no Exynos and the superb SD8G2. But the market is rather saturated with economic pressures and people now holding on to phones longer as it is a mature market.
@lafaiel
We’ve seen with the snapdragon X Elite that if you can’t beat Apple you just add more performance cores and thrash them hoping that that will fool consumers into thinking it’s a better device. Apple is now targeting efficiency and optimisations rather than high numbers.
@TechWhirlUlt
120 Hz is obviously more fluid than 60 Hz but for many people it is no big deal. Many of us watch TVs at 24 Hz and aren’t whining about not having 120 Hz. I think there are more important metrics that define how good a display is than just crying about not having 120 Hz.
@jmwilt21
It looks like it needs a bit of fine-tuning but remember the S23U camera, that had multiple issues and took 3-4 months before updates brought it up to scratch. And I remember the Pixel in the early days last year that needed many updates. I said at the time give them a chance.
@android_fhd
Not a good take as the reality was the S23U was rather disappointing. I can't base it on one camera review but on this one it was an easy win for the iPhone. And the video on the iPhone was clearly several steps up from the Samsung. Not really a surprise for me as I had an S23U.
@ishanagarwal24
No surprise, the VIVO is the best as it is superior to any other phone for shots like this. However, I do prefer the sky on the iPhone, but it has blown out the highlights whilst the vivo is spot on.
@UniverseIce
when fast scrolling like that I have no idea why anyone cares about how fast the refresh rate is because you’re not reading anything. 120 Hz is only important when you’re actually doing something. You can clearly see from that 80 Hz is absolutely fine. It’s called optimisation.
@RjeyTech
I'm assuming you mean the S24 Ultra, not the base S24 as that would be miraculous? Depends what you're doing. I've got 11 hours SOT on my S23 Ultra.
@jvepng
These Google exclusive features only remain exclusive for a small period of time for PR and marketing and eventually become free or part of Gemini Advanced.
@TheGalox_
BOE is as good as Samsung now that OLEDs are refined products. The only issues with BOE in the past were quality control and yield, but I understand these have improved. LG is also good, maybe even better, as Apple prefers them for the dual-OLEDs in the M4 iPad Pros.
@jmwilt21
I know Samsung has been improving their nodes and it is quite possible that they have tweaked the manufacturing process latest Tensor 2 chips. I recently received a new Pixel 7 Pro as a replacement, & it is far better performant than my older version. Also battery life is better.
@MaazMz
Apple batteries were tested, and they have 4-7% more than quoted and is why it takes longer to drop below 100% when new. Samsung has what they list, but they use part of the battery capacity for a reserve. This is their tactic to not charge to max capacity, as that kills cycles.
@TheGalox_
Come on, it is a historical fact that Intel daydreamed for years, which is why Apple dumped them. You cannot defend such incompetence, and even now, after four years of the M-Chips, Intel is flailing, trying to catch up.
@JvShah124
After the free year (new customers) they will be $20 a month. Not so sure they are worth that. Apple has said it will not charge until at least 2027. So, if you keep your Pixel 9Pro XL for 7-years, cost is $2600 with Gemini AI features! The iPhone 16PM will be much less.
@daniel_scuteri
When I’m at home or the office, I prefer using my iPad for video content. I find that it offers a significantly better experience compared to a foldable device used the way you highlight especially with the iPad having superior sound.
@TheGalox_
Remember, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus do not have the A17 Pro chip, so they are lacking in the latest neural engine. It has the same chip that is in the iPhone 14 Pros and they don't get the AI, so seems logical.
@TheGalox_
If I had the choice between the Ultra and S24+, as I am in Europe I would never buy the Exynos version. The fact Samsung did not put Exynos in the Ultra says enough that we need to know.
@RjeyTech
That was a specific test utilizing the performance cores. He did add that the efficiency corez are nearly three times more efficient than Android. So doing the tasks most of us do during the day the iPhone will be more efficient than that graph suggests.
@Tech_Reve
That is no surprise as I heard it was built from the Exynos 2200 but with improved fabrication and nodes. So still miles behind Apple and with SD8G3 due out a similar time, still 2-3 gens behind. Hoping Tensor 4 built by TSMC.
@SamiFathi_
Outside the US and UK iMessage is just barely existing. Why would those region Android users switch to iMessage? Bearing in mind they are already in an ecosystem. This is common sense. The only reason Google wants iMessage on Android is to take iPhone customers, not altruism.
@sondesix
Cannot buy X80 in most regions, so pointless for most. Anyway, I buy an iPhone for the ecosystem and no interest in X80. Enjoy, and those of us that want an iPhone leave us to it as we know all the Android hyperbole, and still prefer what we want.
@durreadan01
That's not a good take as Google is 2 years away from developing its own chip that will be fabbed by TSMC. In the interim they are using Exynos chips redesigned for their purpose, to keep the prices down, to gain a foothold in the market. It is a very good business strategy.
@TheGalox_
The iPhone is so much better. Just focus on the shop and the s23 blows out the lights and overdoes the brightness. Details in that shop are much better whereas the s22 is noisy and less detailed. S22 so unnatural and I assume will get an update to make it closer to iPhone.
@TheGalox_
I want to know the Pixel 8's hardware limitations. I understand why the iPhone 15 does not get AOD because it does not have LTPO 3.0. Also, the S22 as it has a less performant neural engine (a recent improvement in phones). But the Pixel 8, why?
@punitsingh176
@Mrwhosetheboss
This is the first year for me that the iPhone hasn't dominated phone of the year. Last 3 years we've had Exynos in Europe & it sucked badly, meaning it was never going to be better than an iPhone. Now we have the Ultra using TSMC rather than Samsung fabs, they are now very close.
@sondesix
Who cares what a random millionaire uses as his primary phone? Good for him. I usually have two phones, usually a Samsung and an iPhone. Best of both worlds.
@TheGalox_
Nothing much to tempt people there from upgrading from an S23, so if you can get the S23 with a big discount I would recommend that. The S23 is a great phone so the S24 will likely follow.
@techdroider
You cannot compare as the Pixel is 40% less performant than the iPhone, so of course it would create less heat as it cannot performas high. Also, I believe Google has power throttled the Pixel for better battery and thermals rather than improving the chip.
@lafaiel
We will have to give it a month or two for any firmware updates. And of course we need to test other models. It could be many reasons though I suspect thermals and a preference by Samsung for efficiency over performance.
@sondesix
The anti Apple mob complaining about the iPhone thermals and their pride and joy the S24 Ultra also having early onset heat. I hope Samsung can fix it soon like Apple did?
@jmwilt21
The story goes that Apple went to Lightning as Android couldn't get his act together as to what would be the USBC standard. So Apple went USB2 & Lightning. They guaranteed 10 years of support for third party accessories so went its own path & time has told us that was right.
@LuftkoppTim
Yes, either they are dumb or are bait farming, either way they are clueless and it’s boring. The new iPad Pro M4 is a fantastic device that will sell 8-10 million in 2024 & judged on its merits it is miles ahead of rivals. But usual suspects whine—no macOS, it’s just trolling now
@TheGalox_
In the UK my Galaxy book 3 Pro 360 5G was listed for £2,050 for 8GB/256GB on release. The product you quoted is not premium. It is mid tier at best. So you are obviously flexing and misunderstanding premium from mid range. Also, 85% of us do not live in the US so pricing varies.
@TheGalox_
The three-time zoom is a one-trick pony for portraits. The five-times zoom is the primary sensor for longer shots. Not sure why Samsung is keeping it, I don't think it makes any difference in demand. Probably why they are not bothered in upgrading it.
@durreadan01
@Mrwhosetheboss
I wish my S24U had that battery life; it's not even close. But then I have standby time as well which can make a difference compared to a rundown test.
@kwiens
These tech companies are getting more and more innovative and it is impressive they even think of a solution like this. Not sure that is practical for consumers to swap batteries so would be interesting to see what the EU say about this for the law change in 2027.
@iupdate
AI and ML are wonderful but people should understand that the Samsung moonshots are based on machine learning and are not coming out of the optics like that. Whether that matters or not is another question but don't believe that they are shooting that picture.
@TheGalox_
The Tensor 4 is based on the Tensor 3 so Google probably didn’t want to go to the expense of upgrading that part. They will wait till next year with the TSMC manufactured Google chip making that a very big upgrade.
@dalnktech
@9lekt
Samsung killed all their front features just to have a pretty screen. Apple has a notch for added value with 3D Face ID. I miss the iris scanner, notification light, front speaker, etc on Samsung. But tweets like yours suggest people value form over function more than I do.
@VST001
We know the Oppo is better and rumours that S24u will have 2200 nits plus suggests Samsung cost-cutting was a mistake, seeing how other OEMs have upped their max brightness game. Samsung Knights will tweet that it doesn't matter, the same people that bragged about it in the past!
@TheGalox_
Probably better to leave stuff like this to people that know what they're talking about as clearly Apple wouldn't say it was partly the apps fault if it wasn't, as they would be liable to be sued. Especially as Instagram updated and fixed its issue.
@UniverseIce
A18 pro still at least 10 to 15% better at single core. A18 obviously gets beat in multicore cuz Samsung has 33% more cores. Whether they can sustain them more than a few minutes is another question and where will they settle with heat.
@TheGalox_
If the cost is too high, put the money aside rather than pay Samsung. That way, if you upgrade early, that saving will contribute to the new phone rather than be wasted.
@lafaiel
I mean, I keep saying that every review & Samsung fans claim it is real. Yeah we see all this magical AI stuff & they don’t realise that is all Samsung is doing. And it’s not even hard. Thankfully Apple and Google don’t fake it. Catch-22 for Samsung now, have to keep faking it.
@AnxiousHolly
The ironic thing is that he was whining about Apple not releasing Apple Intelligence with the iPhone 16 launch and yet releases an ill-researched and unfinished app. He may understand now that taking your time to release a more polished feature in the long run is beneficial.
@Tech_Reve
Looking at the sales of the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 plus suggests that 60 hertz is fine for most people. So no need to rush especially as it would likely lead to fall in battery life. Apple can then upsell to the pro line, which is their business model.
