#BookerLonglist Book 1 โWild Housesโ by Colin Barrett - chaotic gang life in Ireland - focuses on the kidnapping of a dealerโs brother and the circles of people around it. Compelling characterisation and authentic, raw dialogue.

@Acyn His father just spoke about genetics and how smart he is. Junior inherited the weave - what a shame he didnโt get his fatherโs โgeniusโ

@BarbaraBleiman @GCSE_Macbeth @n8dogg61 @chaoticteach Iโve taught it in IB Lang & Lit & Lit - worked brilliantly. Kids really enjoy it. In post Trumpian politics it has been a little more difficult to not focus on the 21stC context more than Atwoodโs contemporary one. Sometimes it feels more politics text but goes over well.

@lostinthewiring @TheHoustonWade @dr__dwayne I absolutely understand that Senators serve six years. Members of Congress serve two and the President starts campaigning again after two.

@alifeinbooks @KirkdaleBooks @Ros_Ellis @BloomsburyBooks Yes - and weโve already read Chronicle of a Death foretold, The Old Man and the Sea, pieces from Svetlana Alexievich and by then The Spire by Golding. Our Christmas read is The Remains of the Day. They will be ready for this in March. Thanks for answering!

@JamWaterhouse @HelenClarkNZ Is it time for a woman to lead the UN yet? Good grief this makes me mad given we could have had such a brilliant UN Chief instead. ๐ณ๐ฟ
