ENT histology report is not available, but you might still order HPV16/18-ISH, the positivity of which would incline towards an ENT origin. A negative result is rendered, so you sign it "Squamous cell carcinoma" without being able to establish the tumor origin. Classic scénario.

@TheLabDoc TNM staging +++++ Clear margins of > 5 mm is also nice to have, but maybe not a "crucial" factor? HPV not recognized as an etiological factor. Love the grossing image !

Don't forget to eliminate a SCNEC, even though very rare in this location (seen one though!), which is deadlier and treated differently ! When in doubt, order p40 (+, shown here) and neuroendocrine markers (-, not shown). PS. This case didn't require a p40 as squamous differentiation was rather convincing.
