Two minors stole handguns from their parents in a state with universal background checks, magazine capacity limits, and an above-average gun control rating. They were stopped in large part by an armed school security guard and an unarmed student who paid with his life. Stop it.

Quick take:. Gun homicide rate and total number dropped. Rifles still only account for about 3% of gun homicides. Fewer people were killed by rifles in 2018 than in 2017. Five times as many people were stabbed to death in 2018 than were shot to death with a rifle of any kind.
The FBI Uniform Crime Report for 2018 is out today. Looks like murder was down by about 7% from 2017.

It's 100% illegal in California and cannot be legally obtained by a California resident. It also fires at the exact same 9mm round at the exact same rate as every other semi-automatic handgun that has ever existed.
The shooter in California allegedly used a Cobray M11 9mm semi-automatic weapon, which allows a killer to fire 30-round magazines in rapid succession. The weapon is illegal in nearly every developed country except the United States.

I cannot overstate just how bad New Mexico's new red flag law is. it uses "preponderance of the evidence" as the standard by which your fundamental rights are revoked. Preponderance of the evidence. You can't even order someone to treatment on that basis.
