All of the law-abiding citizens featured in this database successfully defended their liberties, lives, or livelihoods with the lawful use of a firearm. These cases are not based on hearsay, but on verifiable reports found through public sources.

I'm going through 2022 school shooting data, and this is your friendly reminder that many gun control groups routinely inflate school shooting numbers to scare people into thinking Uvalde happens every week. It doesn't.
Here a few of my favorite inclusions from Everytown:
Can you imagine not bothering to do a basic Google search before tweeting this, only to find out from your ratio that Cipollone spent two decades litigating complex cases for major law firms and Sekulow is something like 9 for 12 in front of the Supreme Court?
It's indisputable that an armed civilian stopped an active shooter last week.
You almost certainly haven't heard about it.
Why?
Because Las Vegas Police have gone out of their way to downplay it, while the media have shown basically zero interest.
THREAD.
This idea that only white people are allowed to avail themselves of the claim of self-defense, or that they can largely just do whatever and get away with it by claiming self-defense, is absurd: a thread.
Sen. Durbin held a hearing on Chicago-specific violence, then cut me off when my explanation was too Chicago-specific. The story he didn't want you to hear? Police arrested 5 men who fired over 70 rounds at a Chicago home. Prosecutors released all of them without a single charge.
OUTRAGEOUS:
@SenatorDurbin
cut off
@AmySwearer
during her opening remarks to prevent her from from citing data on rogue prosecutors.
Revealing the hearing titled “combating gun trafficking and reducing violence in Chicago” isn't actually interested in doing either.
Two minors stole handguns from their parents in a state with universal background checks, magazine capacity limits, and an above-average gun control rating. They were stopped in large part by an armed school security guard and an unarmed student who paid with his life.
Stop it.
We have to solve the mass shooting epidemic. We — especially our students — should all feel safe in our communities. I’m praying for the students and families from STEM School Highlands Rach, and will not rest until we deliver common-sense gun reform.
@Amy_Siskind
If you can vote the guy out at the very next possible opportunity, using the prescribed constitutional mechanisms...it wasn't a dictatorship. There are literally billions of people who *wish* toppling a *real* dictator was so simple as voting.
God give me the confidence of a rich man running for president who has the audacity to use that time the government killed four unarmed protestors as a platform for arguing the government needs to confiscate your guns.
Yesterday, people brought assault weapons to our rally at Kent State—where 4 students were shot dead in 1970.
I told them nobody should show up with an AK-47 or an AR-15 to seek to intimidate us in our own democracy.
We need to buy back every single one of them.
While we're here, let's also acknowledge that "your AR-15 is useless because the government could just carpet bomb you into submission" isn't an argument in favor of gun control. It's actually an argument for a better armed citizenry and against trusting whoever said that.
26 felonies. They're charging him with 26 felonies, each of which has a mandatory minimum of 3.5 years in prison.
Why?
Because an otherwise upstanding, peaceable citizen with a license for 5 rifles...didn't have a license for his other guns.
Kamala Harris owns a handgun for self-defense.
She also signed onto an amicus brief that supported D.C.'s complete ban on handgun possession and argued you actually have no right to keep and bear any gun, at all.
So, ya know. Maybe she's a moderate but maybe she's full of it.
To recap - the new gun control talking point is that the government couldn't protect Trump from a single highly motivated amateur, therefore I should trust it to protect me so much that I agree to significant limits on my own armed defense?
Yeah. Gonna be a 'no" from me, dawg.
(1) Do it again, but this time your target is multiple armed assailants who not only move but can take cover and shoot back at you.
(2) Same thing, but your assailants have body armor/are tripping acid.
(3) Same thing, but with a handgun.
(4) Same thing, but instead of ideal
I know many who follow me haven't shot guns or semi automatic rifles before. Even with zero training I could shoot a pretty tight grouping at 20 yards. Just look. You don't need 30 round mags. If you can't stop whatever you need to with 10 7.62 rounds. You got bigger problems.
Are these all instances of gun violence? Yes. Are they all problematic in their own right? Yes. But packaging these as part of some "school shooting" epidemic is dishonest nonsense.
This is insulting. If I were a woman on a company board in California after next year, I would never know if I was actually qualified and earned my position, or if I was a token board member that everyone resented (and for good reason).
California just took a step toward mandating a woman on every company board. State legislators passed a bill that would require publicly-traded companies there to place at least 1 woman on their boards by the end of next year -- or face a penalty
@davidhogg111
Women are already guaranteed equal protection of the laws under the 14th Amendment, and the Supreme Court effectively treats discrimination claims under the same standards as any other protected class. See Hogan (1982), J.E.B. v Alabama, and U.S. v. Virginia.
Quick take:
Gun homicide rate and total number dropped.
Rifles still only account for about 3% of gun homicides.
Fewer people were killed by rifles in 2018 than in 2017.
Five times as many people were stabbed to death in 2018 than were shot to death with a rifle of any kind.
This is completely unconstitutional. It's also just logically nuts. Concealed carry permit holders aren't the ones driving gun crime, and now you're telling actual criminals that they have free reign because their victims can't be armed.
Aaaaand doctors saying they'd knowingly use mental health laws for political purposes is precisely why many conservatives question the practical implications of red flag laws.
Good work. Your politicization of medicine erodes trust in ways you never considered.

I'd call security to restrain him then perform a psychiatric evaluation to examine his decision-making capacity.
Chicago - not the Greater Chicago area but just within the city limits - has less than 1 percent of the U.S. population but is responsible for almost 8 percent of these shootings since 2014. In 7 of 9 years, it had more than the entire state of Texas.
Mass shootings in the US:
2014: 273
2015: 336
2016: 383
2017: 348
2018: 336
2019: 417
2020: 610
2021: 690
2022: 647
In the first seven weeks of 2023: 67
We do not have to live like this. No other country on the planet does.
They had to hire an armed guard because the state of New York leaves no legal way - and I mean literally, in every sense, no legal way - for anyone who suddenly and legitimately fears for their safety to exercise their 2A rights. It will cost hundreds of $$$ (if not thousands)
My family, owns a kosher deli in NY. We had to hire an armed guard this week, leading up to this threat of a Day of Rage. Feel how you feel but this is the reality Jews are in worldwide. Be safe friends.
Let me get this straight - the suspected thief shot the victim, who wrestled the gun away and shot the guy who just shot him, and...they're charging THE VICTIM with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm?
New York City is a joke.

How many F-15s did the Taliban own?
Also, I'm confused...is my AR-15 an ultra-dangerous weapon of war that no civilian should own because it rips bodies apart...or is it a useless hunk of carbon fiber that has zero value in a hypothetical armed defense against a tyrannical gov?
@SenWarren
I have yet to see a video with this kid saying ANYTHING, much less spewing "hateful taunts." He just stands there after being approached. Was this the best way of handling it? Probably not. But you either didn't watch the video or you're knowingly committing libel.
You probably didn't hear that yesterday a man tried to shoot up a Jewish school in Memphis. Why not? Because the school's security protocols worked, the gunman couldn't get inside, and he was ultimately shot by police before he could hurt anyone.
@CBSNews
Women in the U.S., as a class, are among the freest, most privileged, and least oppressed human beings to ever walk on this planet.
But yes, somehow it's more dangerous for us here than in China (forced abortions), North Korea (where it's...North Korea), and Latin America (1/2)
Jaleel Stallings was acquitted of multiple attempted murder charges related to him shooting at several St. Paul police officers last summer. He [reasonably] claimed self-defense and that he had no idea these guys were cops.
(1) She was 30 weeks pregnant, which would have been illegal in most states pre-Roe [and most of the world], and is 20 weeks past the FDA's approved usage timeline for abortion pills.
(2) She wasn't charged under the abortion law. She was charged with concealing the remains.
Another day, another completely grotesque lie. Robert Card was involuntarily committed to a military psychiatric hospital months ago precisely because everyone around realized he was increasingly a danger to himself and others. He literally threatened to shoot up a base.
Two residents of a Memphis apartment complex lawfully shot back at armed car thieves.
The management complex told them they weren't allowed to defend themselves or their property, and immediately served them with 3-day eviction notices.
It took the jury only four hours instead of four days to acquit Stephen Spencer of murder in a white man's death during a race-related dispute. Spencer claimed self-defense.
Quick refresher. California:
- has the lowest quality of life in the U.S.
- is among the worst states for working women based on objective factors
- is the 3rd least free state
California’s what happens when rights are respected. When work is rewarded. When nature’s protected. When diversity is celebrated and free markets are fair markets.
We are nothing less than the progressive answer to a transgressive President.

Can we take a minute to appreciate how many women have protected themselves and others with firearms in the last two or so weeks? It's basically a highlight real of just how important the right to keep and bear arms is for us, too. Tip of the DGU iceberg, but important:
📜📜📜
If he wanted to be serious about gun violence, he'd be in Philadelphia talking about rogue prosecutors and straw purchasing. Instead, he's in Wilkes-Barre telling law-abiding citizens they should give up their ARs because he could just order the Air Force to bomb them.
An adult couple met with strangers to buy a car in an elementary school parking lot at midnight. The sellers tried to rob them. One woman was shot in the shoulder and injured.

"We don't know any details about how a minor in an A+ gun control state where the NRA has been declared a terrorist organization illegally obtained a gun, but somehow this is absolutely the time to blame the NRA."
We don’t yet have all the details of the horrifying events in Santa Clarita. But we do know that in America today, children are scared to go to school. Parents and teachers are terrified. And that can’t stand. It is time to hold the NRA and our leaders in Washington accountable.
I went through Everytown's data on "gunfire on school grounds" in Georgia since 2013 and prior to Apalachee so that you don't have to. Here's the breakdown:
- of 87 total listed incidents, 31 occurred on college or university campuses.
- of the 56 incidents on K-12 campuses,

And yet...tens of thousands of non-white women and their families try to cross the border every year into this oppressive wasteland of zero opportunity that is so incredibly dangerous for non-white women.
Before you try limiting which guns that I, a peaceable citizen, am allowed to own...why don't you try *not releasing violent repeat offenders who've already violated conditions of house arrest back out on house arrest* and see what that does for crime rates.

(2) "You can’t go on and buy an automatic weapon. You can’t go out and buy a cannon.”
Okay, we're actually tired of fact-checking this. You can, in fact, own both of these things. Both at the time of ratification and today.
@RepSwalwell
(1) Semi-automatic rifles aren't used on battlefields. Fully automatic rifles with select fire capacity are, and those are heavily regulated by the ATF.
(2) They're used in fewer than 25 percent of mass public shootings, and in only 1 in 10 used rifles alone.

Episode 2:
The electoral college has nothing to do with slavery, and strengthens the republic by acting as a check on the power of large states to render small states voiceless. It makes the government more representative of the whole, not just New York.
It is well past time we eliminate the Electoral College, a shadow of slavery’s power on America today that undermines our nation as a democratic republic.
A non-exhaustive list of completely unserious responses to a 14-year-old fatally shooting 4 people in a gun-free zone:
- blaming the permitless carry of handguns by adults in non-prohibited areas
- suggesting fewer people would be dead if he'd been limited to a featureless but
@Ocasio2018
The electoral college has nothing to do with slavery, and everything to do with checking the power of big states to render small states voiceless...in other words, it strengthens the republic by making it more representative of the interests of the whole, not just New York.
What he fails to mention are the facts that destroy the "this is my lane" narrative.
(1) The weapon was a handgun.
(2) The shooter violated, at a minimum, laws prohibiting the carry of firearms in and around hospitals.
(3) Lives were saved by good guys with guns.
Timothy Simpkins, an 18-year-old who shot three people with an illegally possessed gun at a Texas high school, is literally out on bond right now and claiming he shot in self-defense. Honestly, he has a viable claim wrt to the intended target.
(1) A mob of protestors broke through a gate and rushed onto private property. That's absolutely provocation.
(2) Being drastically outnumbered on your own property by a mob with zero respect for the rule of law or your rights is...um...precisely the time for an AR-15.

What even...? This is obviously and objectively false. He just flat made it up. Especially if you're talking about your typical 55 gr. .223/5.56 rounds.
A 27-year-old man was found fatally shot in his car behind a school building on a Sunday.
A 20-year-old was found fatally shot behind a school building at 1:00 a.m.
Another man was fatally shot in a school parking lot at 6:40 am on a Sunday.
It's 100% illegal in California and cannot be legally obtained by a California resident. It also fires at the exact same 9mm round at the exact same rate as every other semi-automatic handgun that has ever existed.
The shooter in California allegedly used a Cobray M11 9mm semi-automatic weapon, which allows a killer to fire 30-round magazines in rapid succession.
The weapon is illegal in nearly every developed country except the United States.
The NRA:
- is also a 501(c)(3)
- wants to keep kids safe
- teaches gun safety and advocates for a constitutional right centered on self-defense
PP:
- lies about services offered
- sees killing kids as healthcare
- thinks 60 million deaths since Roe isn't a public health crisis
Planned Parenthood
- is a nonprofit
- that provides health care
You, on the other hand, represent an organization at the heart of a massive public health crisis. You have no credibility. Take a seat.
#EndGunViolence
Except that the bank itself apparently prohibits the carrying of firearms on its property, and considers it a fireable offense for employees in particular to carry on the job. So no, actually, permitless carry isn't particularly relevant here.
I mean this sincerely but also gently - if you think a single child in Uvalde would still be alive (or their body less horribly destroyed) if the shooter used a different firearm or a featureless "non-assault" weapon chambered in .223/5.56...you don't understand guns. At all.
If the mugger had lived, he'd be facing infinitely less time in prison than the peaceable citizen who had the *audacity* to defend himself in public without begging the government's permission and schlepping it countless hundreds of dollars.
What dystopian hell is this?
There is literally one where an armed woman chased her ex-boyfriend out of the apartment, is confronted by officers near a daycare center and fatally shot...and the press release literally says the daycare center was not involved and was never in harm's way.
(1) That's not remotely true.
(2) There's a mass murderer loose in a 500sq mile county that has exactly two deputies patrolling it at any time. Lewiston appears to have 12-ish patrol officers per shift. That alone is plenty enough reason for access to an AR-15, which is, btw,
Again: This weapon is larger and more lethal than what I carried and used in the military. Absolutely zero reason for any civilian to have access to and use for this.
Yet so it goes, on and on. So many more lives and families shattered.
Seriously, though, this view of armed revolution/defense against tyranny underappreciates the role of federalism in that scenario. It's not "me and my AR." It's "tens of thousands of armed Americans and almost certainly a lot of state national guard units [which have F-15s]."
...so then why do we universally exempt law enforcement officers from these bans, including while they're off duty? Are they waging war against the American people? And how does removing a pistol grip and barrel shroud change the rationale for possession? [It doesn't].
The Second Amendment is for everyone who knows the government cannot or will not protect their inalienable rights at every given moment of every given day.
Those don't look NY-compliant but I dare
@NewYorkStateAG
to investigate and charge them. I dare you.
Their response?
FOIA it. It's an active investigation.
I'm dead serious.
They refused to simply state the obvious - an armed civilian thwarted an active shooter.
No. Some of these simply cannot be tolerated and must not be accepted. In no universe is it fair or appropriate to have the accuser testify second. She must go first and specify the allegations, or else Kavanaugh has nothing to refute and the exercise is pointless.

We've got a 25-year-old fatally shot [and I quote here] "near a school playground." On a Sunday evening.
A 17-year-old fatally shot outside of an elementary school...on Veteran's Day, when school wasn't in session.
Now, here's where it gets weird.
This video is everywhere. Readily findable. Easily proves that a would-be active shooter was stopped by a good guy with a gun.
And the police are just pretending like they have no idea what happened.
We have literally been saying this whole time that the Second Amendment isn't about hunting deer and that your entire line of questioning of why we need X or Y to hunt misses every single point.
The 2A is, at its core, about ensuring that innocent *people* have the ability to
None of these reports mention HOW the employee stopped the gunman. Was it a rugby tackle? Persuasion? Sorcery? An Old Testament-style act of Divine Intervention and super-natural strength?
Apparently, no one can be bothered to ask these things or report on them.
Out of the entire report, this is what the Washington Post decides to go with as important. Read a couple sentences down to discover WHY he thought it was the end of his presidency - because everyone told him it would drag on for years and inhibit his ability to get things done.
We've been told over and over again that no one wants to punish peaceable citizens for merely possessing firearms and defending themselves. We've been called crazy every time for saying that's a lie and we all know it.
But here we are.
This man's eight-month pregnant wife used his AR-15 to save his life when two armed home invaders beat the living daylights out of him and threatened their 11-year-old daughter.
It doesn't get less absurd. They include an instance where, after a night game for an adult league flag football league, a man fatally shot a member of the opposing team because of an on-field dispute...solely because it happened behind an elementary school.
Perpetrators of gun violence in Chicago reasonably believe they can light up a neighborhood on Friday, and then be released on Monday without facing a single meaningful consequence.
@SenatorDurbin
believes it's inappropriate to mention this at a hearing on Chicago gun violence.
The next day, some follow up reports started hinting that something more complex may have happened.
We find out that a "gunman" fired shots into the apartment complex lobby, and was "stopped" by a hero employee.
STAHP. IT.
Look, 90% of Americans outside of Kansas/Missouri probably have no idea which side the Chiefs play on, just like most don't know the New York Giants play in New Jersey.
Every Chiefs fan I know is a Kansan.
It's a funny mistake. Take a deep breath, ya'll.
Either he's suggesting that these gun dealers are breaking the law and selling to felons, etc. - in which case, shut them down and put them in prison - or he's suggesting that gun sellers are somehow bad for selling guns in full compliance with federal law.
After a high school graduation ceremony, on publicly accessible tennis courts belonging to a local college, one teenager shot two other teenagers (one fatally) and fled.
@shannonrwatts
(1) New Zealand has no Second Amendment equivalent. This is political apples and oranges.
(2) It is already incredibly difficult to legally possess semi-automatic firearms in New Zealand.
(3) Americans deserve to have their constitutional rights protected.
The duty of the judge is not "progress." It's faithful adherence to the Constitution and consistent interpretation/application of the law as it is, not as he thinks it should be.
If you don't like the law, Senator, then change it. That's YOUR job.
Americans should make it clear that they will not tolerate a nominee chosen from President Trump’s pre-ordained list, selected by powerful special interests, who will reverse the progress we have made over the decades.
An intern could have fact checked this with a basic google search. There are dozens of readily available charts for this:
But also, muzzle velocity is not synonymous with lethality or vague notions of "stopping power."
I cannot overstate just how bad New Mexico's new red flag law is...it uses "preponderance of the evidence" as the standard by which your fundamental rights are revoked.
Preponderance of the evidence.
You can't even order someone to treatment on that basis.
Jesus Lima. Prosecutors argued he was the aggressor who shot a man he'd previously threatened. The jury sided with Lima, who said he was attacked by the man and four others and tried to retreat.
One SCOTUS opinion I’m waiting for is challenge to NY’s concealed carry law. Will originalists define “firearm” as it was in 1791, a musket with a single ball? Or will they ignore hypocrisy and say gun rights evolve to include handguns & assault weapons?
