Just had a mahoosive meltdown. I’ve coped with a lot of crap since being widowed but apparently tonight I couldn’t cope with my lawnmower not working. It promptly got launched across the garden and a full blubbering mess followed. Why does it hit you out of the blue like that?

Today is my 25th wedding anniversary and last week was my husbands 50th birthday. I wonder how we would have celebrated both. Maybe Vegas. We always talked about going once the children were older and we could go without them. I’m learning not to wait now. Miss you Iain x

Since losing my husband over 6 years ago there have been many dark and tough times. For the first time in a long time, as a new year approaches, I am feeling really happy and excited about what next year might bring. Bring on 2023, I think it’s going to be a good one x

Today should be my husband’s 46th birthday but he’ll forever be 41. I miss him so much and it never gets any easier. I’ve always struggled with “happy heavenly birthday” as this is no longer a happy day for us, especially when he should still be here x

My sons dad died tragically when he was 13. At 15 I could hardly get him out of bed let alone to school or to see friends. Now 18 he has left school with 3A’s and 2B’s, is about to move into a flat with his girlfriend for Uni and passed his driving test today. So so proud x

I was widowed 7yrs ago, it’s been hellish. I’m blessed with great friends and family who support me and I’ve been lucky to meet another wonderful man who makes me feel like life is worth living again. I will always love my husband but there is still plenty room in my heart ♥️

My advice as a widow is not to listen to too much advice. You will do what is right for you and everyone’s experiences and feelings are different. They will help you along the way but this is your grief and unfortunately it’s pretty horrific. Take care x

Very proud mum! My son got his results today, N5 English B, Higher Physics B, Higher Maths A. So pleased for him considering two years ago he could hardly get out of bed through grief and depression after losing his dad at 13 years old. He totally deserves these results xx

My daughter graduated at the start of November with a Masters in Criminal Justice. She had her first job interview yesterday for the role of Justice Advocate and got offered the job today. I’m so proud of her and I know her Dad would be too 💞

Today should have been my husbands 45th birthday. He died at 41. I would probably have bought him some crap he didn’t need because men are so difficult to buy for and we’d have had a joke and moan about getting older. I’ll never complain about getting old again x

Very proud of my daughter. Since her Dad was killed in an accident almost 5 years ago she has gone on to study a BA Criminology at Uni and is about to submit her 4th year dissertation. This evening she received an offer to go and do a masters in Criminal Justice. What a girl!

I think I’m a much better person than I was just over 4 years ago when my husband was still here. It’s quite sad that losing him has made me so much more appreciative of people, nature and life in general. I’ve become more like he was. He was a lovely man x

One thing I’ve realised since being widowed 4yrs ago is how good exercise is for metal health. Doesn’t matter how down I am if I can muster up the energy for a walk/workout I feel so much better after. Had a walk/run this morning and out with the dogs. Now ready to tackle the day

The last month or so has been pretty tough with the breakdown of my relationship and my father-in-law passing away. I am now on the count down to a trip to The States to see my sister and to say I’m excited is an understatement. Never needed a holiday as much as I do right now x

I go to my husbands grave once a week but my children don’t go as it upsets them too much. And that’s fine. I get comfort from it but they don’t. You don’t need an excuse. If it’s too hard then that’s ok x

for a brilliant afternoon at Pittodrie on Saturday for my daughters 21st birthday. Food was amazing as were all the staff that made it a really enjoyable afternoon. Just a pity about the score but the alcohol helped drown our sorrows x

It happens all the time with people not in the public eye. The press turned up at my door in their droves when my husband was killed in a helicopter crash. It was just awful. And footage of the wreckage was constantly on the local news. There’s no respect for victims or families.

I had wonderful neighbours and friends when my husband died. Dog walking, cooking, ironing etc. Just being there in general for me too. My sons 13 year old friends even brought me flowers. I’ll never forget those people. Most of them are still there for me now x

I work in a GP surgery and our GPs certainly didn’t disappear. Some worked in the covid hubs at the hospital and the others kept the surgery going under difficult circumstances.

It’s amazing how quickly your day can change. Been doing ok lately despite it nearing the 5th anniversary of my husbands death in a work related accident. Then I get an email from his work saying they want to mark the anniversary by placing a wreath on his grave. Boom! Bad day 😢

My son phoned me yesterday to say they were taking the child on their boat so he could go to hospital. They also clubbed together to help pay some of the medical costs. I got a message this morning to say he’d made it to hospital. I’m so glad and I’m a very proud mum xx

Every summer since my husband died we have held a memorial football match over 30’s v under 30’s. We have a raffle, lucky squares, home baking and drinks as well. Money raised goes back into the community. This year we raised £2900. We have raised almost £8000 since we started.

My husband was killed in a helicopter crash caught on divers head cameras. News channels insisted on showing footage of the burning wreckage even after I asked them to stop. I feel for Erikson’s family today. The cameras should have been turned off not zooming in. Just awful 😞

4 1/2 years since being widowed and still the smallest thing can ruin my day. Felt blew off the shed roof in the wind and the rain started dripping through the roof. Not the biggest deal but I just stood in the shed and cried. He should still be here to fix it 😢
