We can be sure after the Trump-Modi meet, the US will announce reciprocal tariffs for a group of nations including India. This is as planned before by the US. The opposition in India will make an issue out of it saying "Modi and India have been insulted by Trump" as they announced tariffs even after Modi went to meet Trump. So I am just putting this out here preempting such ridiculous narratives that may come if Trump admin choses to use tariffs on India. Don't fall for it. The tariffs Trump will announce will hardly make a dent on India. It will be just for formality. India will be part of a wider group of nations he will target with tarriffs as promised during his campaign. Trump inviting Modi to meet him so early shows India is too important for the US and they won't wreck the strategic ties for few billion dollars. India has also done many things to ease the relationship. If the stock market falls after such tariff announcement, remember there are many actors who will pull out money just for a few days for certain reasons. Don't fall for propaganda of "India has failed, Trump has hit us with tariffs, it is going to hurt us, see the stock market is falling." Not just local politicians but even geopolitical actors like the DS and China will want to push such a narrative.
