Today, I received the Honorary Doctorate Degree on Entrepreneurship (Honoris Causa) conferred on me by the Federal University of Technology, Minna at its 33rd Convocation Ceremony. The award is in recognition of my lifetime dedication and contribution to Entrepreneurship. My colleague, the Governor of Niger State, H.E. Umar Bago was conferred with the Doctor of Agriculture (Honoris Causa), while Senator Mohammed Sani Musa was honored with the Doctor of Technology (Honoris Causa). In my response after the conferment, I commended the Federal University of Technology, Minna for its invaluable contributions to the advancement of technological education in Nigeria. The institution has been breaking new grounds in its quest to achieve excellence. It's motto "Technology for Empowerment" is a clear pointer to the institution's clarity of vision. It recognizes the transformative power of technology and have been devoting its resources and intellectual energies to training young men and women who would help drive Nigeria's industrial and technological revolution. I seized the opportunity to call on policy makers at all levels in Nigeria to prioritize Research and Development (R&D). The leading countries in the world devote large chunks of their budgets to Research and Development. We must prioritize institutions like FUTMINNA because they hold the key to our technological breakthrough. Researchers in our universities are creative, innovative and committed. Funding has always been the major constraint.

This is to extend my congratulatory message for a well deserved honor done HE @ubasanius by FUT Minna. This is a demonstration and testimony of his good will and dedication as well as commitment to serve the people. It is indeed worthy to note his immense contribution to the delivery of good Governance and provision of security in Kaduna State and its environs. He is indeed a people’s Governor and we are proud of him and his achievements.
