On the eve of the 2nd anniversary of Russia’s illegal invasion of 🇺🇦, I had a great discussion with students and professors from NUM, Uni of Humanities, Uni of Otgontenger, the Hon. Consul of 🇺🇦 and the EU. We debated the impact of this conflict globally including on Mongolia.
It was a pleasure to meet with 🇲🇳 Minister of Education Mr. L. Enkh-Amgalan. We discussed the sector’s challenges and opportunities including teacher training and increasing access to English training, 🇲🇳 second official langue!
I just experienced a wonderful Mongolian tradition of welcoming the first sunrise of the year! I wish you all a wonderful New Year 2024! May all your wishes come true.
I had a great discussion with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economy and Development, Ch.Khurelbaatar.We both agreed on the importance of the 🇨🇦-🇲🇳 relationship, and the opportunities for collaboration in the agriculture and energy sectors for 🇲🇳’s prosperity.

Congratulations to the 🇨🇦-funded MERIT project for successfully holding their closing ceremony on November 23. In 8 years, through 286 Canadian technical advisors, MERIT transferred knowledge to 23,770 public servants and 4,463 community members on natural resource management.
Great meeting with PM Oyun-Erdene. We discussed 🇨🇦 Comprehensive Partnership and the Indo-Pacific Strategy which allow for greater collaboration opportunities between our countries. We also announced 🇨🇦 humanitarian assistance to help alleviate herders suffering due to Dzud.
I was impressed by my visit of an insulated house that the Darkhan Women Federation is advocating for. They call it the 🇨🇦 house because it uses 🇨🇦 insulation techniques to make houses warmer without chimneys. That’s what Mongolia needs - innovative ideas to tackle pollution.
I had the pleasure of planting trees today with Mongolia’s Deputy PM Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan, and Deputy FM Amartuvshin Gombosuren. This is part of Mongolia’s efforts aimed at improving the country’s environmental sustainability. An important goal shared with Canada.

Today, I visited Xanadu Farm in Hutag-Undur owned by 🇨🇦 Jeremy Thiessen. Xanadu Farm offers feasible solutions to address Mongolia’s heavy livestock losses in winter. Controlled grazing and feeding is the solution. Xanadu produces high quality meat in 🇲🇳 and healthy livestock.
It was a pleasure to inaugurate the youth development center at the Darkhan Women’s Federation NGO today. Funded by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, this project helps teenage mothers overcome everyday challenges and empower them to fulfill their goals.
