When I was 18 I lost my sight. The whole world stopped. Not just visually it went dark but my life seemed to go dark too. But then I realised that the world doesn’t wait for you and we all have one life and we may as well make the most of it.

Amazing how things can change, and that a year ago I was fighting for my life in hospital. Every morning I wake up and I’m so happy that I can breathe – it’s taught me of the value of appreciating the little things, and gives me perspective on what’s really important #ThankYouNHS.

It was a relief to make it to Horombo Hut at 3720 metres above sea level (I was only 20 metres off 😆) where we will stay for two days to acclimatise ready for the final push to the summit. My legs are a little sore but my spirits are high! #KilimanjaroDiaries @RafikiThabo
