idrk what’s going on but doxxing someone or engaging in cyberstalking/harassment over something as inconsequential as a video project is really silly. A very silly reason to hurt someone else and a VERY silly reason to subject yourself to potential legal action/consequences.

And I’d also note that the group mentality or hivemind part of it, and whether he was influenced by the praise of an echochamber, does not negate/minimize Fuuta’s deliberate actions leading to her death; he thoroughly understood what he was doing, and why.

And please dont take this as an endorsement to vote either way on him, I’m not arguing his innocence or guilt with this, I just wanted to talk about the realism of it

It is realistic that someone who doxxed a child and encouraged online hate to the point of suicide is not a perfectly morally upright person in all other respects in his life. It’d be vastly more unrealistic in the inverse

I think that some people may conflate realism with prevalence and that’s why it seems OOC or like bad writing. But just because it’s realistic does not mean it’s typical. And something can be realistic even if we at our core disagree with it and cant justify it

And I’m not sitting here saying that realism makes it all totally cool and okay. It doesn’t. But I would argue that him being a bad person does not make his writing bad. If he were a completely upright and morally upstanding online citizen, we would very simply not be here at all

At that, it’s upsettingly realistic for people to side with friends or family who have the same predilections out of a sense of loyalty or some other influencing factor.

It wasn’t “oh she did something so bad,” it was “oh this’ll go viral for sure!”

These people made up that echochamber that he inserted himself in to keep getting gratification and praise. They were making him feel important, and that was more important to him than actually exacting real justice. I think thats clear from his first thoughts seeing killcheroy

(3) Because his view of justice was maligned to a selfish end, it’s not unrealistic (though it is deplorable) to me that he maintained friendships with people who had disgusting predilections

I guess in a way, it kind of parallels Haruka’s murder of the pets (to feel “connected” to the world), he felt a sense of purpose after his “success” doxxing that first guy. A few key differences of course, but just broadly speaking

He makes something go viral once, bad people applaud his efforts, and he predictably wants to surround himself with those people from then on. And in so doing he ignores their own lack of morality or justice because he’d lose that echochamber of support and purpose

(2) I don’t think it’s unrealistic that a bored young guy who was alone, no direction, felt no purpose, and stayed inside online all day ended up developing a warped sense of justice and dove into an incel echochamber after they gave him validation and made him feel “successful”

I know this is scary, but I think people underestimate just how many people commit these same types of acts and crimes because they’re “bored.” Particularly in his age demographic, and just given the state of the internet and societal mindsets now

(1) I don’t think it’s unrealistic or lazy writing that he did it because he was “bored”. I think it goes a bit further than that as to why he committed the crime with Killcheroy, but the aspect of boredom at the jump is realistic, as is its interaction with his buildup.

I can understand why people think fuutas new trial content and report are out of character, unrealistic, etc. I actually think it’s incredibly realistic and entirely in line with his character as written, but I think it is uncomfortable for many to confront.

That isn’t to function as excuse or justification of course but this set of facts is more realistic than one would think

Ahhh well add fuutas case to the “shockingly realistic” list
