I don’t give my first book baby enough love, so today’s CoH’s day. Interested in a YA/NA book that:
- Deals with themes of overcoming violence, loss, and grief?
- Has an 👽MC in a fake human body who will do anything to save her human friends?
- Has strong platonic love?

My grandmother transitioned out of life today. She faced the end of her time with the same attitude in which she lived—with humor, mischief, stubbornness, whimsy, boldness, and without any fear or apologies for who she was. She was my role model, and she will be missed.
Partner: I really like romance novels. Do you think you could try writing a romance novel?
Me: Sure!
Partner, one year later: How’s the book going?
Me: Awesome! Body count is up to six!
Partner: ...
Me: Look, I said I’d try.

In case you don’t think real life can be stranger than fiction, my cousin is dating a man with the same last name as her first name. Same spelling. She’ll probably marry him, and my entire family is anxiously awaiting the day. 😂
I’m stuck somewhere between “My books are for me. I don’t care if they make money” and “I’d love to be a full-time writer one day … which means my books need to make money.”
Anyone else? 😆
Not sure what’s going on with my account, but I could use a timeline cleanse. No amount of muting or blocking seems to be lessening the awful stuff popping up every time I log in. Pet pictures, book stuff, or just general happy stuff would be extremely appreciated.
12 hours since I spoke to Dad, but it’s not unexpected. Dad volunteered to be one of two people in his group to stay behind at the embassy to shut down the systems they were responsible for. He warned me it could be a while before I hear from him. Patiently waiting for good news.
Hadley Gordon is an amnesiac telepath/telekinetic trying to catch a killer … and not get murdered herself.
It’d help if bombs would stop going off.
The Darkest Memories is a superhero serial killer thriller. Pre-order on Amazon today!
I’m torn about posting details of my books because, on one hand, I want to attract readers, but on the other, I don’t want to spoil the plot.
But someone once told me “If it’s a good book, you can reveal the plot, and it will do nothing to ruin the story.”
Thoughts?
I’ve reached 6,000 followers! THANK YOU to every one of you for your support as I pursue my writing dreams! To show my appreciation, I’d like to purchase YOUR books. Please leave a link to your book and I will choose a few to purchase this weekend.

You know what, I did not expect THAT extremely minor character to pop back up and be important.
Anyone else get surprising revelations about their book?
Thank you to everyone who shared books with LGBTQ+ characters.
Now I want to give visibility to the writers of those characters. If you write LGBTQ+ characters or identify as such, please respond with a GIF!
I’ll follow everyone who responds and encourage others to do the same.

Thank you to everyone who has kept my dad in your thoughts. The Taliban is closing in on Kabul. He is hoping to be evacuated within the next 24 hours. I got to talk to him, and he seemed very calm. I, on the other hand, am going to be a bundle of nerves for a bit.
It’s

I’M NOT A ONE-HIT WONDER! I finished the first draft of The Darkest Memories! 63,914 words and 226 pages.
Did I miss every deadline I set for myself? You bet!
Are there gaping plot holes everywhere? Absolutely!
But it is DONE!

Parahuman Hadley Gordon is many things: a telepath, telekinetic, amnesiac, quirky roommate, struggling student, and quasi-federal agent. When a parahuman serial killer comes to town, she finds herself with a new designation: target.
Anyone else reuse names across their books? Just realized I have two Emily/Emilees, two Marcus/Marks, and two Mollys. None in the same book, of course.😅

So, my editor just e-mailed me to ask if she can change my font from Garamond to something easier to edit in (it’s apparently hard to see all the punctuation marks).
Obviously, I’m now rethinking publishing in Garamond.
Readers and writers, which font do you prefer?

Words can’t express how grateful I am that Dad is safe. Now I ask that you keep his Afghan colleagues in your hearts. My dad worked alongside some brave, kind, hardworking people who risked their lives and their families’ lives to work for the U.S.
I try to keep my account lighthearted, but if everyone could send positive vibes that my dad gets out of the U.S. embassy with nothing more than interesting stories to tell, I’d be very, very appreciative. He is — and I’m not exaggerating— the best dad ever.
BREAKING: The U.S. is sending troops into Afghanistan to help evacuate some personnel from the embassy in Kabul, an official says, as security rapidly deteriorates in the country.
Anyone ever wonder if vampires struggle to overwhelm the minds of those with ADHD?

I read an article that said the average self-published author only sells 250 copies of a book. What do you think? Too low? Too high? Sounds about right?
My first draft is done! I WROTE A ROMANCE NOVEL.
After years of telling myself I couldn’t do it, I can’t describe how it feels to prove myself wrong. I am so, so proud of this little book!

It only took three chapters for my writing group to put the nail in the coffin: Raven and Doe is NOT a young adult book.
So, I’ll be marketing Raven and Doe as an adult fantasy romance. 😅
Also, they described the vampire as horny. Did NOT see that being the takeaway.

One of my coworkers got up and stared pacing, turning red, and literally pulling her hair out today.
When asked what was wrong, her response was “I was reading this book in between time points, and I did not see the plot twist coming. I NEED A MINUTE.”
Author goals.
Is it weird or realistic for a mom to refer to her 30-year-old daughter as “baby?” I keep looking at the dialogue I wrote last night, and it’s grating on me.
His heart broke to leave them behind. Some of his friends and their families were mere days away from coming to the U.S. on visas. They do not deserve to be discarded or forgotten. Please, remember them in the days ahead.
