Obviously I’m opposed to AI being used by big companies to replace hiring voice actors, but for a small creator who is making non-commercial animations for fun to get such backlash is sick. The creator has stated they could only pay one voice actor for their Shaggy impression.

In a way I see what you mean, but I don’t think it’s nearly as charming or funny compared to sentence mixing because it’s trying to sound more natural. Kostamoinen is a big channel so it’s a bit disheartening that they aren’t working with voice actors atm.

I find it incredibly ironic that an SFM animator is this protective over “characters” that he created, when the character in question is male_07.mdl from Half-Life 2 sticking his head out of a toilet. Imo it’s obligatory to be light on copyright when making Valve fan stuff.

Imo, pro players should not influence the development of games. Pro players naturally learn to adapt to the games they play, casual players don’t nearly as much. Having pro players shape games before they even release is a recipe for disaster, leaving no room for casuals.
This new FPS is literally rivaling Call of Duty on so many levels… and it’s taking actual pro player insight in its development

People rag on the 2022 remake for removing levels and changing the list of playable characters, but I find the modding potential to be vastly superior to the gamecube version. For example, look at this mod that replaces all the characters with ones from TF2!

Because it’s not a cgi problem, it’s a blue screen / green screen issue. Compositing actors with set lighting into entirely cgi backdrops will always look off. Same goes for adding actors faces to cg bodies. Rushed live shootings makes vfx artists jobs harder.

I can voice act, and no, I don’t think that’s a good comparison. I’ve obviously expressed my grievances with people reuploading animation, countless times, but using ai voices for a small videos when they don’t have the budget to hire a va is nothing like that.

You have to adjust for context depending on the the situation. Smaller creators get a pass from me. People who have a clearly sustainable income should pay voice actors. It’s not that hard to think about.

This would have been really cool if you actually spent the time to reanimate this scene with real claymation, as it would have shown the effort and artistry put into it, even if it wouldn’t have been great. Instead, you went the lame route and shat out ai garbage. You’re lazy.

Scaling a model to prove just how similar they are is not fabricating evidence. You can clearly tell that the models from Palworld borrow topology from Pokémon models. They couldn’t be arsed to make new meshes, they clearly edited existing models enough to “look different”.

Here's a comparison of the SFM version with the original. I had the most trouble with the female spy as she isn't an HWM model, but I tried my best to keep the animation as faithful as I could.

I cannot express how bad of a signal this is from Valve. DMCAing passionate non-profit fan projects is a bad move and shift away from their roots as Quake modders. With TF2 being infested with bots, the game would be dead if not for the strong community it has. Valve pls stop.
