Interlodge was put into effect. (Outdoor travel restrictions) Avalanche Mitigation by UDOT is ongoing.
UDOT is clearing avalanche debris from the highway in mid-canyon locations.

When Little Cottonwood canyon is restricted, all vehicles including 4x4 need to have rated snow tires. Rated means a M+S or snowflake stamp on the sidewall. If you don't have rated tires, you need chains. More 4x4 and AWD vehicles with bad tires get stuck than any other type.

There are presently about 1160 people sheltered in base area facilities in Alta. Multiple agencies are working to make the situation safe and clear the highway.

question we get this time of year: Is the trail to Cecret Lake open? It is open, but mostly snow covered. Also, the Albion Basin Summer Road is not yet open to vehicle traffic so your hike will be a bit longer.

Alta Ski Area is closing at 3:00PM. There is a TENTATIVE road closure at 4PM for a mid-canyon shoot. The road is already moving very slow due to slick conditions. Plan your afternoon travels NOW.

A piece of cardboard on the dash with info written on how/where to contact you is very helpful if we need to locate you to move your vehicle. Towing fees can easily exceed $800 and we hate doing it for minor parking violations.
