If I had to guess today: The Ben Johnson domino changes things so I tried to account for the outcomes here. Patriots: it was Vrabel all along that was easy. Jets: I think Aaron Glenn is who they want, if he were to choose New Orleans this starts to get interesting I suspect Flores as plan b. Saints: again I think Aaron Glenn is their top choice, but if he chooses NY, Mike McCarthy has a long relationship with Mickey Loomis. Joe Brady would be my plan C guess. Jags: want Ben Johnson, but I think they’re plan C for him. My bet has been on Liam Coen winding up here. Cowboys: despite the initial Deion Sanders stuff that’s not really a thing, and they have no formal interview scheduled despite no obstacle to doing so. Kellen Moore would be my guess here. Don’t sleep on current OC Brian Schottenheimer as a plan B. Bears: they’ll be fighting with the Raiders to try to get Ben Johnson and my gut says this is a better job. Team has more pieces, a defense in place and a young QB. The Bears have plenty of money and no qualms about paying the $15m+ per year Johnson would command. If they’re unable to seal the deal with Johnson, pursuit probably pivots to Monken, McCarthy and/or Pete Carroll. Raiders - much like the Bears Ben Johnson is target one. The question is whether or not they can land the plane. The Raiders do have some nice pieces on either side of the ball, Bowers and Crosby are draws for anyone. That said the rest of the roster is much further away, and the AFC West is a murderers row. No young QB to build around, and only the 6th pick in the draft. You probably get to have input on GM here, and this is largely a blank canvas, but how patient will they be with this rebuild, a 1st time HC growing into the job in a division where the Chiefs rule the NFL, and the Broncos and Chargers are suddenly ascendant? Pete Carroll would be my #2 here and I think probably the better fit for what they need right now if they’re unable to land Johnson.

@Zach_Segars @JasonBishopNFL @LauderdaleMD @PatrickChiotti I’d credit him more for raising professional standards personally. Which is what a coach is supposed to do. But there’s some credit to the build and some to development.

@Zach_Segars @JasonBishopNFL @LauderdaleMD @PatrickChiotti Oh yeah, that was one of the first things I said they’re gonna make significant investments in the old line that is an area. Sean Payton always pays. I think they overpaid for the two free agents, but they were necessary additions.

I’m not trying to rush off the impact. I just see the story told from one side and that’s why I gave the Parsons example. Are you guys going to credit Dan Quinn for creating him? Or are you gonna do the real thing and admit that a player with talent and naturally gets better and coaches can help refine that? And a lot of this talent was held back by incompetent coaching of the previous staff.

@Zach_Segars @LauderdaleMD @PatrickChiotti I’ve never tried to slight Payton on that. In fact, I’ve going out of my way to give him credit. He was the one guy banging the table for Bo when everybody laughed at him and he was absolutely correct.

So it’s all coaching then and if Sean Payton leaves Bo Nix is gonna suck? That’s obviously rhetorical question the point I’m trying to make is that you’re crediting to development what might just be natural progression of a player. I’m not saying that to slight the coaching here. I just feel like most people don’t talk about that in terms of the real balance. Is Dan Quinn responsible for developing Micah Parsons or was Micah Parsons actually a bad ass and developed naturally with help from Dan Quinn ?

I don’t know that development is really the keyword here. Or at least not in the sense that I feel like you’re using it. Bonitto always showed flashes. He just finally got a starting role and the snaps to showcase his talents this year. Moss got on the field. Allen was already a vastly underrated menace as was JFM. I think people underestimated bone X you know I said he wasn’t gonna be ready at the beginning of the year and he wasn’t but he came on a lot quicker than I thought he would as well. I would also say you guys are dramatically underrating Vele, who I suspect will be a 100+ target guy next year. Just an under rating of the Broncos roster is a whole .

@hoosiermumma @PatrickChiotti @Zach_Segars I’m not disputing that I mean we’ve all seen that. There’s been a slip there in terms of ability. That said, he certainly played well for a stretch this season as well

@JasonBishopNFL @LauderdaleMD @Zach_Segars @PatrickChiotti Well, first of all, I didn’t say everybody he certainly has friends on the staff that have gone with them everywhere and know how to work with him. And second, the ownership isn’t there day to day.

@LauderdaleMD @Zach_Segars @PatrickChiotti One guy‘s vastly wrong playoff predictor thingamajig is not indicative of the whole. You can always find an outlier. Reality is sports books had them picking 5 to 10, which is still far out pacing expectation

@LauderdaleMD @Zach_Segars @PatrickChiotti No, they weren’t projected to be the worst team in the league (NE) although they far out paced book expectations because the roster is better than people thought it was
