Big thx to every 1 here who has supported me trying to be with my parents for a hug in their Carehome. It's happened. They didn't remember my name,but the way they responded to my hug was enough to know there is still a connection. The fight goes on to reunite others properly

My Mum and Dad have been together every day in their Carehome for last 6 years. Now mum has Covid she is isolating -and from the only bit of her life that makes any sense to her -my Dad. In a small room, alone and with dementia for 14 days. Can’t folk see how wrong this is?
Now that isolation time for general population is reduced to 7 days (pending neg lfd), we MUST consider why we still make those in care homes isolate for 14 days (minimum). It is unfair, disproportionate to current risk and causes distress and deconditioning for all residents.
