I really do think creativity is our greatest human asset. Understanding human creativity lets us utilize it better and gives us a good model for how we can augment it. I really appreciate
@danshipper

@every
giving me a platform to share my thoughts!
We’ve raised a $2M pre-seed to continue building AI tools that augment some of our core human abilities - memory, perception, and synthesis.

Who's working on adaptively creating UI in real-time? I keep asking around and can't seem to find the right niche but I'm almost certain they are out there.
Being a founder is hard. It's especially hard right now if you're raising $. I just got a 'yes' call where the whole team joined and I could feel their conviction and support . They encouraged me to never stop pursuing my big vision. What a powerful experience.
I’m beyond excited to say that I’ll be starting a new chapter and joining Cloudera

Such a fun, lively day yesterday
@betaworks
RENDER conf. It was our first

Language is a proxy for thought. Capabilities unlocked with language (foundational) models have exploded. Combined with what I'm reading and writing, I can start to model my actual thinking. Forget auto-completing sentences. Forget recommending memes. This is what I came for.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how chat isn’t the right AI interface. We need better tools to explain what we need from machines until we can build better intuition engines.

Well, I'm feeling EXTRA glad we didn't decide to go the "agent" route today with the
@openai
announcement🫣. Still bullish that there's more space for startups to work upstream in the cognitive stack, enhancing human intelligence rather than automating what humans can do already.
We didn't evolve to understand that when language is produced it's not by another human. So, I understand some of the
#LaMDA
chaos, but I hope it doesn't distract from all of the amazing NON-sentient things we can accomplish.
One of my main jobs is to imagine fantastic or futuristic things. I feel so lucky to also be able to immediately judge whether they are technically feasible. The world needs more interdisciplinary founders.

What a great way to close out the week. Shipped a big new feature
@recollect_ai
that gets us even closer to our full vision AND got the product in more hands than ever before. These weeks make all of the start-up hustle even more worth it.
We shipped the ability to recall information wherever you do your reading and writing with our extension!

I unapologetically operate at an 11/10, which means I work very hard and have a big life, but I also mind my health so I can KEEP that pace for the long haul. We're all capable of much more than we allow ourselves to believe.
Amidst all of the chaos these last few weeks in startup land, I'm even more excited and grateful to be rolling out an upgrade to our 'recall' algorithm
@recollect_ai
. Heads down, just keep shipping, just keep shipping 🐠
I've had a lot of conversations recently where people think that augmenting your thinking is niche. How have we come to a point in society where thinking feels niche? When it all clicks and this feels obvious, I hope I've had a hand in helping people see what to me feels obvious.
Summer isn't quite over, but I'm glad we came in hot, adding loads of new functionality to better serve our customers. Proud of the team for all of their hard work and still managing to have some fun while doing it.
We've had a packed summer, launching three long-awaited features!

I'm very excited to participate in and demo our product
@betaworks
Tools for Thinking conference on 08/16. It'll be a great way for several thoughtful people in the space to come together and work through some of the biggest outstanding hurdles and level set on what's to come!
Tools for thinking? Fifty years since the first personal computer, thirty since the birth of network computing and we still dont have great tools for thinking
I'm excited to share with you my conversation with
@AliceAlbrecht
, founder and CEO of
@recollect_ai
, about how tools for thought like re:collect can augment your thinking. I hope you get as much value as I did from our conversation!

At a dinner party, mostly in jest, I said that I could be defined as a non-fungible token (as I’m sometimes the token woman in a crowd, and obviously not replaceable). I can’t undo this realization now. I am a human NFT 😂.
Building a product means many customer interviews and conversations. At the outset, I hadn't appreciated how glad future me would be to have chosen such an interesting early customer type. Nice work past me.
Anne Treisman was an incredibly intelligent, curious and kind person. Her work framed much of my thinking and showed me a path forward as a woman in the field. Very sad to hear of her passing. My heart goes out to all those that knew her and those that were equally inspired.
Come by and join me next Wed.
@NYAICommunity
meeting. We're going to talk about building AI products and the group that attends these is usually pretty awesome.
I've been doing some really interesting consulting and advising work lately and would love to do more.
If you or anyone you of know is looking for a data/machine learning consultant please send them my way!

Combining customer interaction data with foundation models unlocks new ways of personalizing our experience with the digital world and moves us closer to embodied collaborative systems. It’s incredible to see so many threads start to come together.
I'm a big fan of

You know that feeling when you download a new productivity app?
You set it all up, use it religiously for a few days, you're the master of the universe...and then basically never open it up again?

AI isn't a new or sudden thing. It's one (large) component in a cluster of human+computing advancements. Who else should I know that's focused on extending minds? (Bonus if they are outside my bubbles.)
Creativity is our greatest human asset.
We want to give customers a platform that revolutionizes idea generation and knowledge creation.
We want to enable people to spend less time and energy storing and retrieving information and instead spend more time working with it.
I'm hearing about more AI products that help people struggling with attention and working memory (
@recollect_ai
included) by undoing what we lost moving from the physical world to these rectangles. What cool AI products are people building to help people cope in digital space?
I love getting to collaborate with with of my favorite founders. I'm excited to co-host this with

I often want a visual aid when exploring new code that shows me which files are connected (think via import in python). Please tell me this is a common need and someone has already built it.

So, if Twitter dies, how will I look people up? Where will my white pages for the internet go? How will I find the new white pages if no one Tweets about it?
LLMs are becoming a commodity. Let's make sure access is equitable. Why not partner with those building with them to bring a more diverse set of fine-tuned "perspectives" into future LLM iterations in exchange for that access?

I keep hearing "sick" and "nauseous". I appreciate all the calls to stand up and fight today- but I also want to hold space to feel sick. It's sickening to be told that a handful of people can decide your rights aren't there anymore, and they're coming for more.
We're starting by building a bridge to your 'digital mind', leveraging ML and models of human memory to facilitate information retrieval and synthesis.
Eventually, our goal is to strengthen this bridge by enhancing our product with wearable technology.
@sriramk
You have no idea what career paths you’ll eventually take, so focus more on developing skills that interest you and less on tokens for any one path.
I'm excited as things really get underway with
@recollect_ai
! It feels like months and even years of ideas and groundwork are all coming together into a real living thing. More details coming soon!
I'm convinced the answer to most things that feel bizarrely un-fixable is to 'restart'. Login failing? restart. Code failing? restart (kernel). Feeling burnt out? body restart (sleep).
It makes me very uncomfortable to see this shift in direction against
@CFPB
’s mission (an agency geared toward consumer protection) made under the guise of making more “data-driven” decisions.
I had an interesting conversation this morning where I realized the difference between "better search" and retrieval isn't obvious. If you don't know exactly what you're looking for or don't think to search at all, you can't retrieve. Better retrieval is a huge unmet need.
Well played

Announcing: The Future of Publishing!
We're bringing together heads of tech platforms, old and established publishing houses, founders and authors, journalists and academics to investigate the new tools, new audiences, and overall future of publishing.
@packyM
I hope Dev is feeling better today! Web3 debate aside, I appreciate your humility and normalizing that we all have off moments (I can't even count how many times I've had to show up with an ongoing family crisis and know I wasn't on my A-game).
We're all using ideas as a type of currency (not related to crypto) on social media and often in our day jobs. Why isn't there an obvious common phrase for this behavior? Knowledge economy is one I've tried, but what are some others?
@packyM
@Technovelgy
This is neat! Also, shout out for investing in my crazy dream that others wrote off as being too Sci-Fi. I hope you can help make a few more of these on the list a reality.
