You are most welcome. We are also super excited to be along for the Uber ride. Some more ideas: If I want to order Ubers for mom, the kids and me as we leave an event, I haven’t found functionality to do so. I have to use three separate accounts on different phones. A customer should be able to order an unlimited number of simultaneous Ubers and track each trip to make sure each guest makes it home. This will of course drive more volume. Tipping doesn’t work well. The tip is decided the next time one books a trip and by then, you don’t remember the ride. Instead, why not give the customer the opportunity to have a standard tip for every trip which can be modified after the fact for the rare case where you want to tip more or less?

Taking the war to an important battleground up next. Bangalore! Where it all began! As we scale across regions, the one and only thing that keeps playing on my mind is “how we scale culture”, how we keep the reason to start Leverage intact, that same commitment to every student, that same spirit to do counterintuitive things that have a play in our customers’ long journeys, that same obsession to win big but while playing right, by our heart 💙👊🏽 Personally, this first Experience Center in Bangalore means a lot to me. Leverage had started to take shape, it’s early design screens reviewed, in the last months of my job here. The experience center is at St Marks Road, which I’d cross every single day and night on my way from Vittal Mallya Road to Residency Road and back. It was on these roads, little eateries here and there, that I convinced Sada to give me the first ₹20L that began this company. So having Sada here by me, his most-beautiful-amazing kids cut the ribbon, felt so fulfilling! Oh man .. wow It’s exhausting, it’s maddening, it’s horror right out on most days haha, but then it all becomes worth it in moments like these So madly determined to win in Bangalore now. With our brand of playing the game. Leverage It!

Really enjoyed my panel at the @asugsvsummit last afternoon We ended up speaking (sigh!) more than we got to (for now) about foreign university campsues in India. There’s a lot that needs to be proven. So focus has to be on that. Justifying the price point, the outcomes that students in the region expect, the experience versus main campus, the continuity of research-bend that makes clasrooms incredible, etc etc etc. Or will India be a great TNE destination. Like a Dubai, a Singapore, a bit of what Germany is evolving into .. Hopefully it will work. It should work. But until then, “let’s be more head down” 🙏🏼 Always fantastic hearing my friend Hitesh Parashar from HDFC Credila Financial Services speak. Good for the audience that we’re able to bring out our camaraderie to the stages we are on ;) .. but humour apart, I just emphasised again (& I see that all the more evidently now that Leverage is expanding into a new country every month) how Credila’s work is perhaps the most important in helping our ecosystem evolve into what it has. We need more India-based Indian NBFCs, giving out ₹₹-denominated loans, that stay by the student through through their journey .. Was great to finally meet @nanhimann Ma’am of behemoth Kaplan. She is an absolute authority on this stuff, her breadth of stuff-done-and-won in a different orbit 👏 ✨ Sitting right next to her, I had the easy job of just continuing to nod along ;), & when the conversation shifted to degrees —> turning into —> outcome-focused skill programs in the future at some point of time, her point blank question to Hitesh asking if he’d “fund that” had the hall in roars 🤣 / got reminded of my catch-up with Wen Lu 盧文卓 in Singapore just a few months back. Lot of my “Kaplan is way ahead in innovation” comments on stage came from that chat in late Oct (thx to mentor / board member KK for that introducion) .. infact it was quite the moment when I thought ‘I was the tech-guy in the room’, proudly showing her what we’d been attempting with AI, but then Wen raised her phone to show me frontier tech that absolutely blew me off (and inspired much since) * won’t write the feature / product for confidentiality reasons :) .. that night is still fresh in the head, think Kaushik got bored after a while (ha!) and we kept nerding along till it was time for the restaurant to close! There’s so much coming up .. There’s so much work to do … This is day 1 not just for companies but the entire industry, as it continues to evolve into a very different shape and form, bringing with it the responsibility for those in the play to move fast and always keep student-impact as the #1 metric 🥇

Another Leveragian Storytime .. This time re my awesome colleague Shailja Anand Vijay Iyer was my super super super super super (yea the # of supers’, I counted, is the actual # of layers between!) boss when I was a 21 year old Analyst at Ernst & Young almost one n’ half decade back. I wouldn’t ever presume he’d know I exist. The first time I had a proper chat with him was much later, in autumn ‘17, just few months after starting Leverage, while he was entering / I was exiting a Delhi hotel. I was “very pleasantly surprised” that he called me out by name. I was like .. ok … koi toh notice kar raha hai bhai apne startup ko (we were <10 people that time) November 2021, Vijay Sir texted me, introducing Shailja / checking if I’d like to speak. I obv said “yes ofc” almost immediately. I was a little apprehensive given she was senior and hence out of our bounds ₹₹₹, but I was keen to speak. Now, those who know me, know I hire ONLY for two things: hunger and heart — how restless, ambitious, obsessed you are to leave a mark out here, AND how you treat others around, how likeable you are ;), how much fun you are, how your heart beats. I take super quick decisions, whatever the role and pay be, senior to junior. Of course I get it wrong once every while (my board knows that better, ha!), but my hit-rate is improving / evolving, year after year, think at a 7/10 right now, but the 7 I DO HIT are well … oh man, get the gist! Anyway, so Vijay Sir (because he is the ever-so-humble Vijay Sir) had undersold Shailja, and I had no idea she’d become the SUPERSTAR that she has over the years, the pillar of strength, the “hustler”, the “let’s smack this hard!”, I could go on and on and on about her 😇👊🏽 Shailja now leads University Relations at @leverageedu She is so damn good with her job, that every other University Representative tells me how much of a rockstar she is, it’s her doing all the grind behind the scenes (and I very shamelessly accept that I’m here just to pose!) .. but yea, so so proud, on an everyday basis What promoted this post? Watching her live in action again 🎬 over the last 24 hrs here at #SulaFest Her love for everything Leverage Her pride that has conjoined with the brand, like so many of us 💙 Ok Shailja, zyada seriously mat lena yeh sab kuch Lot lot LOT MORE TO DO lets get back to work ;)
