The directness is interesting, maybe he thinks Vance or Trump will listen? Or maybe he thinks that if he’s not direct it won’t be addressed, but ignored? We have unfortunately been in the error of chaos with regard to immigration. The timing on this seems to be trying to avoid the other error. I agree that the pendulum on immigration is quickly moving there, but I fear it will instead be taken as tone deaf and ignored. Understandably the right wants vengeance of the policy sort, and nuance doesn’t reign in wrath. This definitely puts Vance in a bit of political pressure, he can’t continue the rhetoric without putting strain on his faith and seen as unfaithful, but he can’t give way easily or he’ll be seen as a papal puppet and a traitor. But if he finds a way to thread that��� He is in the best position to get the right to listen to the pope’s concerns or ignore them.
