Evening with a view while putting in KSU Foundation wheat increases. KS Mako is the current variety leaving the drill.

@ksplowjockey 38-16 is another one that we really enjoy growing and is just good all around for our area.

Converted corn head as always is making milo (grain sorghum) harvest great again with a late season stressed crop.

Did not think I would find this little guy in my backyard while raising sprinkler heads. This western bean cutworm is in the mature larval stage overwintering but would have started pupation in the next 30 days to emerge before/at corn pollination time.

Started corn harvest today. Probably one of our better fields this year as it got an extra rain. Probably little need for a grain cart and unloading on the go this year. Photo credit Patrick Weber.

Received 1 gallon of Radiate from @NutrienHoxie to try out. It will be nice to see what this product can do in a replicated plot design. Plot design will allow for Sentinel 2 satellite imagery to be used to analyze the treatments throughout the season and will end with yield.

You know it’s a dry boring cropping summer when all the pictures you get from your brother this past month is pictures of equipment that has been washed and waxed (ceramic coated) instead of crop pictures and new pioneer corn/milo hybrid remarks.

RT @SoilFertilityKS: Soil NO3-N test can be affected by handling/storage. Submit samples ASAP, otherwise air-dry or place in a fridge at 40…

@MorganMcNeal90 What is the weed you are having the most trouble with and which herbicides have you used in the past?

@agronomyjake It’s very possible but it would require me to download many satellite tiles as I only have NW KS ones downloaded. I won’t have time this spring but could be a winter project when things are slower.

@EvanSjovold R was used for all processing and map displayed besides displaying the relative production map on the right. That was a screen shot from QGIS.

@MunnafMuhammad I think the success of this approach will depend heavily on the consistency of the field variability as well as what type of rainfall we receive in NW Kansas. I chose NDVI because it is a standard but will look into others and see how results vary.

@mathew_tapley @TheFarmerHayden If a person does not have a background in basic GIS, ARC Pro and QGIS could be a steep learning curve. That said, they offer endless possibilities from fertility recs to satellite imagery. Pretty much anything you can dream. Learning them takes a commitment and not for everyone
