The removal of priority status by Dublin City Council has closed off one of the only remaining housing pathways for vulnerable care-leavers and has placed many at-risk of homelessness. It is very positive that this decision is now being reversed.
As the national strategy to end youth homelessness reaches an end, many of its promises remain unfulfilled. Of 27 actions, seven have been completed. And the number of people aged 18–24 who are homeless rose 33 percent between 2022 and 2024.
