Had some very insightful discussions with
@BreastCancerNow
especially around the statistics surrounding the impact of the disease on women in the North-West. I hope to work to ensure women in Blackburn have access to the best healthcare & assistance.
#BreastCancerAwarenessMonth
Another day, another massacre of civilians in safe-zones.
What will it take for our government to finally decide enough is enough?!
We must impose a complete arms embargo and sanctions on Israel immediately!
#BREAKING
: Israeli forces have committed a massacre in the Jabalia refugee camp after bombing a school sheltering displaced people.
At least 15 people have been killed and dozens wounded
It was a pleasure to have held one of my surgeries at The Hub At Shadsworth which provides a wide programme of support and activities, including;
- Mental health and wellbeing support
- Life skills for young people
All future surgeries in Shadsworth will be held at the hub.
Had a very informative discussion with the team from Prostate Cancer UK.
The North West,& Blackburn in particular is one of the worst affected areas in terms of early diagnosis, due to lower levels of education& overall deprivation.
We must work to bridge these inequalities.
In light of the horrendous news of Palestinians being burned alive in their tents this morning, the Independent Alliance writes to the Foreign Secretary as follows:
A pleasure to meet with Paul Richards of BMS Critical Care, we discussed the vital work carried out in manufacturing medical disposals for use by the NHS.
Paul's company is actively working towards delivering on net-zero emissions, working hand in hand with the NHS.
Refugees, including children, sleeping in tents in a hospital were burnt alive by Israeli bombs last night.
Does our government have any red lines when it comes to supplying arms and supporting Israel's actions in Gaza?
Does burning people alive qualify as a crossed line?
Over a year of total impunity in Gaza has lead to Israel now threatening the UN.
At what point will our government decide a red-line has been crossed?!
The Labour government must now join Italy and Spain in their calls for an international arms embargo on Israel.
The horrific seige of Jabalia Refugee Camp in Northern Gaza must be condemned in the strongest terms possible.
The seige has been described by UN envoy as a 'genocide within a genocide'.
Allowing this to continue unchallenged is a stain on our collective moral conscience!
Independent Alliance MPs yesterday, questioning the Labour government on its refusal to halt arms sales to Israel, alongside discussions on other steps we must take to help eleviate the suffering of the Palestinians in the midst of this unfolding catastrophe.
Spain's PM calls on all countries to impose an international embargo on arms sales to Israel.
Yet our PM refuses to entertain the idea of a halt in the UK supplying arms to Israel.
For how much longer will this government continue to hold this unjustifiable position?
In light of the bombing of the school in Gaza today, sheltering displaced refugees in Gaza, many of them children, I once again ask whether the government will revisit its position on supplying arms to Israel, and whether its current position can be morally & legally justified.
Questions must be raised as to the absurdity of a situation in which we as a country provide both the aid and the weapons being used to bomb the beseiged civilian population of Gaza.
Thank you
@AdnanHussainMP
for supporting the Spot Leukaemia Early Day Motion, it is great to have your support in highlighting the need for greater GP and Phlebotomy capacity in order to diagnose leukaemia earlier.
Israel's targeting and bombing of schools, hospitals, refugee camps & other designated safe-zones for displaced civilians has become an everyday event.
When will this government finally decide enough is enough & condemn and sanction these blatant violations of international law?!
We are on the verge of an all-out war in Lebanon – with already devastating consequences.
But there is still time to stop.
The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries must be respected.
Very insightful and informative meeting in Parliament today with both the Lebanese and Palestinian ambassadors.
Discussions emphasised the importance of upholding international law, an end to occupation & illegal settlements, and the recognition of a Palestinian State.
"The diplomacy of phone calls and statements is not enough. To end this horrific violence, we need an end to arms sales, the introduction of divestments, boycotts and sanctions, prosecutions for all those who have committed war crimes and a plan for a viable Palestinian state."
In giving the Israeli Government impunity to break international law, the UK, US and others have enabled a genocide, failed to secure the release of the hostages, escalated the fighting and put the entire region at risk.
The diplomacy of phone calls and statements is not enough.
